It was afterschool, and I didn't have any more encounters with Mike. To be honest, I was thankful for that because I had embarrassed myself enough for one day. I was back to my energetic self, chattering with Ester and Jake, my best guy-friend.
We were in the mist of our conversation about the school and what we are going to do after school today. We usually went to get a slurpee from the 7 Eleven close to the school.
"Hey," mumbled Ester suddenly, her mouth full of slurpee. She swallowed, her eyes super wide with a smile on her face.
"I have a great idea!" She announced to me.
"Instead of stalking guys, how about you, Jake, and I climb our school today?"
Jake and I looked at each other, baffled. Wait a minute, did Ester suggest what I think she did, climb the school? I thought, stunned.
My watch ticked on, silence.
Then, at the exact same time, Jake and I burst out laughing. Jake laughed so hard that he fell down on the grass and started rolling on the floor like a complete madman. That's the way Jake is, always goofy but serious at times and a great friend. He could lighten up anyone's day.
Seriously though, I thought, rolling my eyes and smiling. My friends are so childish, but thats what I love about them.
Ester had an annoyed expression on her face. "Nutballs," she muttered.
"It wasn't even that bad of an idea."
"What? Climbing..school...a...great idea?" Jake managed to choke out with sarcasm in between fits of laughter.
"Yeah, it was just an idea," said Ester, starting on her sandwich, clearly bummed by our reactions. "I'm not forcing you to, I'm just suggesting that it's something new and possibly thrilling."
Jake smirked and started to eat his chicken nuggets.
Hm, I thought. It was true that the school was getting a little boring itself, it was just Mike that cheered me up slightly before I made a complete fool out myself.
My friends make my life bearable; the rest of it was getting pretty old. Maybe we needed a little fun?
Maybe, just maybe?
You know what, I thought. I think maybe Ether's idea wasn't so stupid after all.
"Well," I said, grinning now. "It's better than stalking boys all day, we'd lose Jake playing basketball with his friends. This rusty old school needs some fun, I think your idea is brilliant."
To make a long story short, Jake started choking.
* * *
"Whoooopeeeee!" screeched Ester.
She jumped up and down like a little girl. "This is going to be so fun!"
I chuckled at her and Jake rolled his eyes.
"I'm only doing this to protect you idiotc weakings from possibly falling. And if you do, it's not my fault. Remind me again, who was the one that suggested climbing a roof?"
"Don't worry, Jake." I reassured playfully. "Maybe there's a pot of gold on the school. If you don't come with us, you'll miss out seeing the leprechauns and unicorns." I winked at him.
He smirked, but I could see that in that guy's mind, this was still total nonsense to him.
Climbing a school wasn't exactly safe, but whatever. We were teenagers; we did what we wanted.
