Harry's pov:
"How long are we gonna be here for? We've been looking for hours and hours." I complained.
"Patience boy, patience. We are actually coming up to dock."
George points out in front of me. George docks the boat by this small boardwalk and hooks the rope around a pole.
I climb off the side of the boat and make my way into the small town. "I know a small restaurant if ya want to get some grub."
George says while grabbing his cane and shakily strutting off the boardwalk. "Yeah. That sounds great." I say.
We make our way to a small diner in the corner of the town and the smell of homemade waffles hits my senses.
The waiter sits us down and I order a whole plate of waffles and bacon. I haven't eaten so much in a long time but I was starving.
"My word boy, you eat like ya never seen food before." George laughs at himself.
I grin at his response and over hear a conversation from the booth behind me. "Yeah, that girl is so lucky to have John Wade as her husband! He is so hot."
"Yeah right, I'm just so jealous of his wife Violet! She's so pretty."
My eyes wide open the moment they said 'Violet'. I stop everything I was doing and stand right up shaking the table.
"Boy what is wrong with ya?" George says with arms outstretched and his fork hitting the ground. "I gotta check something."
I turn around to the table behind me with a nervous tension. "Sorry to bother you but where did you hear that information about-" I bit my lip.
"Violet?" My body shook. "Oh um, I got this from the newspaper here.
There's a stack of them on the counter." The women replies with a faint smile. "Thank you."
I say while turning around and running over to the counter where the newspapers are. The front cover saying 'John Wade receives award and dedicates to wife Violet'.
I slam the newspaper on the counter looking at the photo on the front cover. 'Violet looks so different... and... happy'. My mind races and my thoughts made me feel overwhelmed.
I stare at the picture, Violet smiling and holding hands with a man who I don't even know.
'Why is he covering his face up?' "Boy what are you doing?" George walks over and pats my shoulder.
"That is Violet..." I say putting my head down. "Ah I see... well it looks like they are having a congratulation party tomorrow night. And I know just where it is."
George gives me an assuring look and I nod. "But what am I going to do?" I asked scarcely. "Tell her how you feel. If ya still love her then let her know."
We left a tip on the table and walked out the diner. "Alright so we'll have to get going now because of how long of a boat ride it is."
"Where is this place at?" I asked. "It's all the way to California." My eyes wide open and my heart pounding.
"Uh how are we supposed to get there in time before the party starts?" "Well I do know someone who owns a plane. We could make it there just when the party starts."
George uses the telephone by the road and with his last quarter makes a phone call. "Thank you. Ya we'll be there soon." George steps out.
"So my friend makes planes for a living, and he lives just right up the street from here."
