It's been approximately twenty minutes since Jimin's escaped to one of the back rooms of the frat house to hide after spending mortifying three minutes making out with Jungkook on the counter for the whole world to see.
Ok, so maybe Jimin's overreacting and it wasn't the whole world, just a bunch of Minhyuk's frat mates, but still! Word travels surprisingly fast around the vast campus.
Jimin's trembling, and he buries his head in his arms as he huddles behind the enormous bed frame situated in a corner of the room. Till now, he still can't comprehend what drove him to clamber over Jungkook and give him the kiss of his life.
Okay, maybe not the kiss of Jungkook's life, but it was the kiss of Jimin's life.
Jimin groans, frustrated, and bangs the base of his palm hard against his forehead. He's attracted to Jungkook, there's no other explanation as to how he fucked up like that.
Jimin's ears perk up as he hears the room door creak open, silently hoping that its Taehyung who's come to pick him up from this hell hole of a place. But no, his mind stutters to a halt when its cocoa, and not lavendar which invades his nostrils.
"Jimin?"
As much as he wants to hide from Jungkook, Jimin can't help but bite back, the top of his head rising from behind the enormous bed frame to peek at Jungkook.
"It's Jimin hyung to you, brat."
Jimin scowls as Jungkook throws his head back and laughs as he crosses over the room and plops down next to Jimin on the floor with a soft huff.
Jungkook seems a little relaxed, a little less highly strung as compared to when Jimin had made out with him on the counter twenty minutes ago. Jimin sniffs discreetly, not feeling in the least bit surprised when he detects the smell of alcohol masked by the scent of Jungkook's rich cocoa.
"I had a bit of rum and coke, just for the courage."
It's as if Jungkook can read his mind, and Jimin shifts, slightly surprised as he tears his gaze away from the floor and to Jungkook's face. Jungkook might sound relaxed, yet there's something on his face that betrays him, the slight apprehension that hangs off of his expression.
"Yeah?"
Jungkook audibly swallows before continuing.
"Taehyung told me why you avoid getting into relationships in general."
Jimin groans inside, resisting the urge to bury his head inside his hands.
"That's why you're running from me, right?"
Jimin doesn't know what to say to Jungkook, a million thoughts racing through his head and his tongue seemingly tangled as he looks down at his hands, twisting tighter and tighter till the skin around his knuckles turns white.
Jungkook seems to notice this, and he reaches over hesistantly to pry Jimin's hands apart from each other, making sure to cradle gently in his own bigger ones. Jimin goes stiff for a moment, before relaxing into Jungkook's hold, and he takes it as a sign to continue.
"I was wondering if..." He pauses for a moment before talking, "Wondering if you would let me help you get over that hurdle together."
Jungkook flashes a soft smile at Jimin, one that Jimin doesn't return. He doesn't dare to look at Jungkook, and Jimin feels Jungkook falter next to him, a twinge of guilt spreading in his chest.
He really, really wants Jungkook... yet a part of him is afraid that he'll only end up disappointing Jungkook if they get together.
But another part of him (the traitorous one) hopes that he'll have some sort of happy ending with Jungkook, like in those dramas that Taehyung loves to binge watch every evening with a bowl of popcorn in hand even as he has a mountain's worth of assignments to submit.
Soft rustling from Jimin's side breaks him out of his train of thoughts, and he's alarmed to see Jungkook standing up, disappointment coming off of him in waves as he brushes the dust off of his shirt and bends down to fiddle with the laces on his boots.
"Jungkook wait, where are you-"
Panic runs through Jimin as he scrambles to hold onto Jungkook's hand without a second thought, like its simply a reflex action. His heart pounds loudly in his ears as he glances up to catch Jungkook's wide eyed as he stares down at Jimin, surprised.
"You didn't say anything, so I assumed that I just got rejected," He smiles a little dejectedly at Jimin, and Jimin's heart wrenches painfully at it.
"I... just..."
Without giving a second thought, Jimin's on his feet and going on his toes to press his lips into Jungkook's soft ones, his hands cradling Jungkook's face gently. Jungkook's hands automatically curl around the small of the omega's back, and Jimin can't help but revel in the comfort of it.
When Jimin pulls away a moment later, both their faces flushed and panting, he slowly opens his eyes to meet Jungkook's, the alpha's gaze piercing
"What's this?" Jungkook whispers softly, searching Jimin's face for answers.
"Are you going to bolt again?"
This time, Jimin's sick of questioning himself over and over again about the same thing. Life's too short for regrets, and he'll be fucked if he lets Jungkook slip through his fingers cause Jimin's pretty sure that he'll never quite be the same again.
"I'm sorry... I just... was so selfish. I was scared about getting hurt, so I ran away instead of confronting my own feelings for you. From the first time I saw you, I don't know what, but something in me clicked and it was like I couldn't help but get drawn to you. It might sound like a stupid crush to you, given that we literally just met today, but I've had crushes in the past and nobody has ever pulled me like you did."
"Jeon Jungkook, I like you so much that I don't even know how to deal with my own feelings, and it's scary," Jimin confesses, peeking up at Jungkook.
"Jungkook... do you believe in soulmates?"
"I do," Jungkook replies slowly, peering down at Jimin.
The fact that his arms are still wound tightly around Jimin's back gives him the confidence to continue.
"What if I said that," Jimin says softly, his thumb tracing patterns into Jungkook's jawline, "I think that you're my soulmate?"
Jungkook's silent for a moment, immersed in his own thoughts before his eyes widen, trying to restrain his excitement. He doesn't do a very good job though, given how his lips are slowly into a wide smile.
"I think that... you're my soulmate too," Jumgkook confesses quietly.
"So I guess we're-"
"-boyfriends," Jungkook finishes his sentence for him and they both break out into huge smiles as Jungkook pulls Jimin even closer, tucking Jimin's head under his chin.
It's nice, Jimin likes the fit, and he doesn't bother to hide it as he snuggles into Jungkook's neck, his heart bursting with happiness as he wraps his arms securely around Jungkook's back, the both of them swaying back and forth in a comforting manner.
"....Jungkook?"
"Yeah hyung?"
"What do I smell like to you?"
He untucks his head to gaze up expectantly at Jungkook. His face is scrunched up comically to pretend that he's thinking hard, and Jimin resists the urge to bop his nose hard and laugh.
"Home," Jungkook says after a moment of silence, smiling down at Jimin sweetly, "You smell like the breeze that blows by Busan's beaches, and that's home to me."
Jungkook leans down a little to press a sweet kiss onto Jimin's forehead, and he can't help but find comfort and security in that.
Well, he wouldn't mind doing this for an eternity.
