I couldn't contain my excitement even if I wanted to, my long (really long) term boyfriend was on Jogi's list again!!
This time he was one of the most experienced players on the list, can you believe this? That little boy I fell in love with is one of the reference players in our national team at the age of 23!
We talked a lot about it the time before the list came out and we were pretty sure his name would be on it, but still makes me proud everytime I read "Julian Draxler" there.
We were still enjoying his time off between Ligue 1, Coupe de France and Coupe de la Ligue back in France when came the news about Jogi saying he was one of the leaders in this group and I can't put in words how happy I was.
He was a bit worried, but I fully trusted he would do great.
"I knew you would do an amazing job!" I greeted him through the screen as he was in Denmark and myself in Germany waiting for them to come back.
"Did I?" he asked wearing the biggest smile. Even through a computer screen I could feel how proud he was of himself and the team. "We didn't win, though." I watched the smile drop off his face.
"You went to Denmark only yesterday, Jule, you barely even trained together before the game. And you still managed to get a tie, imagine when you all get in the same page?! You'll be unstoppable!" I reassured and watched, gladly, the smile get back to his face.
"Yeah, I guess..."
"Well, I'm sure. Have I ever lied to you?!" he shook his head. "There you go!"
"I'm still buzzing about the game and being the captain! Who would've thought I'll be Die Mannschaft captain one day!?" he had the biggest and proudest smile I've ever saw and mine was mirroring his.
"You deserve, Jule, and much much more, this is just the beginning! Remember Jogi put you as Neuer successor in the team leadership?!"
"Yeah, this is crazy to think about still." he laughed. "Can't wait for the tournament to begin."
"That makes two of us. Everything is already set up to hit Russia."
"So efficient!" I winked at him, like he didn't help me before went away. "I have to go now, we'll talk later?"
"Is the sky blue?" he laughed hard and I felt my heart melt a bit more. "See you later, captain!"
"Sure, captain's girl." he winked before turn off the call.
And that's why I left everything and everyone by the beginning of this year and will do how many times it needs.
