2018 was a very bittersweet year for us, me and Jule I mean.
Back in July 2017, at the Confed Cup's final Jule proposed to me and after a while we decided to set a date to make it more real, even if we already lived and acted pretty much like a married couple since we came to Paris.
But if I had a ring on my finger I'd like for him to have one on his as well!
So, we set for July 2018, right after the end of the World Cup. But why chose a date so close to the biggest event of his career? Well, I'd love to have a summer wedding and I'd like to do it soon and not wait until 2019 and Jule was ok with.
If they did win the World Cup we would have the best summer of our lives, Germany world champion for the 5th time and our marriage; if they didn't we'd still have one of the best summers of our lives with our marriage.
When the Confed Cup ended I was pretty confident in the boys for the World Cup, but when they got together for the World Cup itself, the whole team, I lost a bit of confidence. I don't know how to explain, but it was like they weren't at the same page. Team A was supposed to be way better than Team B that went to Russia the year before as a test for the new players!
They lost the first game to a team they've had already won one year before! It doesn't make much sense if you ask me, but that's what happened.
We ended up leaving Russia war earlier than we'd like to and as we thought about the possibility of them going to the finals, everything for the wedding was already set up. So, we ended up with a lot of free time before our wedding day which led us to some kind of honey moon previous to the wedding (you can't really blame us for this!) and only "came back" the Monday before the wedding.
"Jule, what are you doing?" I asked watching him get up and down the bed the morning of our wedding day.
"I'm a bit nervous, I think..."
"In a good or bad way?"
"I don't know." he chuckled a bit. "I'm sure of what we are about to do and I'm very happy about it, it's just... I don't know how to explain."
I went to hug him and get him back in bed for a while.
"It's going to be ok, we're going to be ok. We are already married in a way, nothing's going to change, really."
"Promise?"
"I do. If so, we're going to be even happier. Trust us!"
"Always!"
We got married at the beach with family and some of our closest friends to share our special day. At the party Kevin (always him, of course!) gave a speech that got everyone laughing about our official third wheel.

"Baby? Are you ready? We're going to be late!"
I heard Jule's voice coming from the 'living room' of our hotel room while I was at the actual room getting ready for the New Year's Eve party.
"Almost. Just the shoes, wait a second."
"How can you get even prettier each day that goes by?" I was looking for the pair of shoes when I heard his voice right next to me.
"If you say how you do, I'll say how I do."
"I love you, Mrs. D." he gave me this nickname in our actual honey moon.
"Love you too, hubby!" I blew him a kiss, but he cut the distance between us to give me a proper kiss.
"Now let's go or else we'll be here and enter 2019 in a way we didn't actually plan."
"And how would it be that new way? If you don't mind me asking." I asked just to be gifted with a very naughty smile.
"It involves us, maybe a bed and, for sure, no clothes at all."
"You know what? I'm down for it!" I said already unbuttoning his shirt.
"I can't think of a better way to start our 2019."
"Me neither. But let's quit with all the talking, shall we?"
And it was the best New Year's Eve of my life! Until now...
