Chapter 2: Man in the woods

After school I headed straight home. First day of school and we already have homework. As usual nobody was home. Aunt Jenna's busy, Elena's probably writing in her journal, which may I add is still depressing, and Jeremy's probably following Vickie like a lost puppy.

By the time I finished it was dark outsight. I heard voices downstairs, so being me I walked down the stairs and eavesdropped. It was Elena and that new kid Stefan.

"Sorry, I was about to knock. I wanted to apologize for my disappearing act earlier. I know it was . . . strange." What is Stefan talking about? "No worries. I get it, blood makes you squeamish." "Um, something like that. How's your leg?" "Oh, it's fine. Just a scratch, barely. How did you know where I lived?" "It's a small town. I asked the first person I saw. Um, I thought you might want this back." He handed her something. I think it was her journal. "Oh, I must have dropped it. I--thank you." "Don't worry, I didn't . . . read it." "No? Why not? Most people would have." "Well, I wouldn't want anyone to read mine. "You keep a journal?" "Yeah, if I don't write it down, I forget it. Memories are too important." "Yeah. I'm just gonna. . .umm, you don't have to stay out there." He tried to get in but couldn't, weird "I'm fine. Sorry, were you going somewhere?" "Yeah, I'm meeting a friend. Do you want to come?" and with that they left.

Since I was alone I decided I would go for a walk through the woods. My dad and I used to walk their all the time, but since he died I stopped. I think it's time I do it again. It was breezy outside. The stars were glistening like diamonds in the sky. I started walking through the woods. The trees were so high you would think that they'd reach the sky. I heard a sound; like a muffled scream, so me being an idiot, I followed it. I saw a man who had raven black hair and dressed in all black, with his head in a woman's neck while he pushed her up against a tree. His hand was on her mouth muffling her screams. I accidently stepped on a twig, which caused it to snap. I looked up and the man wasn't there, only the lifeless body of the girl on the floor. I turned around and let a small shriek escape my mouth. The man was there in front of me with blood dripping from his mouth. In a blink of an eye he was gone. I decided to go back home because it was late and I was a little shaken up. On my way home I kept on thinking about what happened in there. I should be more scared but I wasn't scared at all and that scared me. As soon as I reached the house I sprinted to my room. I took a shower and headed to bed. The last though in my head was vampire.
