Sorry if this is going to seem like a really short chapter, you guys. I just wanted to give a little bit of insight to what D.Va's dilemma is initially going to be. I'm planning on making this a very slow burn so bare with me. I'm basing my story off of everything that I've learned about Overwatch after a year of playing it and reading the lore. If D.Va seems a bit OOC, it was my intent I assure you. None of the characters are mine, but I love Blizzard and sometimes Jeff Kaplan :/
Also, these playlists I include really help me set the atmosphere for D.Va/Hana and her personality if that makes any sense, so I hope you like them! :)
"Good job securing the payload, D.Va!"
"You were vicious out there, D.Va!"
"It was nothing really, those Talon bozos didn't stand a chance!"she replied waving them in acknowledgement.
Hana's eyes darted back and forth from her comrades that swarmed her the minute she deployed from her MEKA. Lucio was always her number one fan, but she chalked it up to him being everyone's fan. He gushed over anyone that pulled more than their own weight, and that mission in particular, Hana felt like showing off.
During their mission, she stood close to Mercy's side, using the MEKA's APM shield whenever she needed a window of opportunity to heal someone. Hana took out a few of Talons combat medics, leaving them completely vulnerable and allowing Genji and Tracer to get in and swarm the rest of Talon's recruits.
As the team approached their destination with their cargo, Hana's gut told her something was off. She did a quick head count, noticing they were a man short. In the distance she heard a faint buzzing confirming her fears to be true. She turned her head in the direction of the buzzing and saw that Genji was stunned by several turrets that were propped on an archway. Her MEKA sensors picked up a sniper on a nearby rooftop approaching Genji. A series of synapses fired off in the gamer's brain, a result of years training her reflexes, using the MEKA to ram into the turrets, then charging into the sniper, catching them off guard and propelling them some several yards away from them.
Now they were all in the safety of their Gibraltar base, the team had been called in for dinner time, which consisted of a variety of MREs. The mission almost seemed like a dull memory to Hana's short attention span, not even aware of what exactly they were transporting, all that she knew was that those Talon guys couldn't have it, therefore it translated as just another game to her. She took her meal with her into the garage-like area where they kept a spare vehicle or two, along where she preferred to "park" her MEKAs. Out of the different assortment of MEKAs provided to her by the Korean Army, she kept two spread out from base to base, a tactic advised by Soldier76. It came quite handy in moments like these where she might need a spare for future missions if one were to get damaged.
She winced at the scratches her MEKA had endured on their mission, but she sighed knowing that she was more relieved to have caught that sniper on time. Genji was so disoriented because of the turret's beam that it made it extremely difficult to carry him back to the others safely. She clamped the packet of mashed potatoes between her teeth as she made a climb for the top of the MEKA, sitting down cross legged and taking a few plastic spoonfuls of the bland meal.
"Just like always, no flavor.Would it kill them to throw in some butter?"
"I agree. It could use some improvement."
