this chapter involves a couple of fantagio idols/trainees including astro and the trainees from season 1, but you do not have to know them to understand! (i recommend you to check out astro's music tho, it's lit)

-

the first week of school ended, and yeonjoo still ignores me wherever she goes. i try not to be clingy as possible, as i knew it makes her uncomfortable and i don't want to look that desperate either. her presence just confounds me for some reason, and i know there must be an explanation as to why.

turns out it wasn't the end for appearances of a 'first day' this week, as the streak continues by the weekend, when i'll be restarting the woeful pain of a trainee life in a company that most likely keeps more visuals than i could ever imagine. fantagio-

-

"wait, you were in fantagio?!" ong interrupts jihoon's story, his eyes widen in shock.

jihoon nods, already expecting that from his fellow ex-labelmate. "it was actually a long time ago. how long have you been a trainee, hyung?"

"8 months."

"then it makes sense that you don't know me, it's because i left fantagio a bit longer than that."

daniel wheezes. "ah, ongie is park jihoon's junior~~"

"shut it, harry potter." ong interrupts before he sighs. "park jihoon-ah, we could've been the best of friends before we even got here."

daehwi pouts. "to be honest, i don't think you'd know  park jihoon even if he was still there, i don't even think you know the names of your labelmates."

"hey, i actually do!"

"then let me ask you a question hyung," i lean forward. "have you ever heard the name 'kim yeonjoo'?"

ong pauses. "it doesn't really ring a bell."

i groan. "ah, you really don't know your labelmates, do you?"

a couple of boys open their mouths in realization, some murmuring 'oh's or clapping in enthusiasm. "i get where this is going." donghan nods along.

seonho stares at the ceiling, meeting minhyun's eyes who's-- still dangling on the top bunk, apparently. "i don't understand."

sungwoon sighs and pats the kid's head. "you're always so clueless, are you? so technically jihoon meets yeonjoo at-"

minki throws a pillow at sungwoon. "shut up and let jihoon speak for himself."

"you're not going to find your name anywhere there, just for the record." the woman in the counter said. i turned at her to see her putting a judgmental smile on her face. "that's for the a trainees."

"ah yes, most definitely." i walked to her and rest my arms at the counter's surface.

"you'd be a part of the b trainees." the woman explained thoroughly as she skimmed through the pages. "park jihoon, right?"

i nodded. "and i suppose the b trainees are a tad more shortwitted than the 'a's?"

"b class is the place for trainees who we see as talented but we still have no idea what to do with them." she smiled profusely, before putting her attention to the person who just got in, the creaking door at my back closing slowly. "hey yoojung-ah, can you please accompany this new kid to his practice room?"

-

"i am still shook by the fact that you were in fantagio." ong looks down in disbelief. "you're younger than me, you could've been a member of astro!"

"it was still iteen boys back then, but i understand what you're saying." jihoon corrects the shocked older one. "though i don't think i'd fit in with astro's concepts, so i'm glad i'm here now."

in the middle of jihoon's story, jonghyun interrupted it while carrying an onibugi stuffed doll with his eyes barely open. he acts a bit touchy and whiny because the boys didn't invite them (eunki, who sadly had to face the torture of getting a friendly 'hug' from jonghyun, tried to convince his hyung that he actually took an effort trying to wake him up) but they were already normal with the leader's strange behaviors. besides, that 'clingy' character is what made that unfazed, quite short boy kim jonghyun.

"ong-ah," jonghyun starts.

"hm?"

"what class are you in now?"

"i am an a trainee ever since i got into the company," ong says quietly, lowkey trying not to expose it too much.

jihoon wheezes. "even i couldn't achieve that until a month of training."

"how was it there, ong? enjoying the pink sweater like you are right now?" sewoon loiters, which brought a laugh for the boys.

"oh you think that matters now?" ong points at his rank tag that covered his stomach. "i hope you'd know that i'd like a big number '1' here, thank you."

"well you won't get it any sooner, though." jihoon winks.

"but can we please talk about how you met yoojung-noona, though?" samuel is the first one to think of changing the subject. "i didn't know that you knew her."

"okay, choi yoojung.." jihoon sighs. "she was the one who told me something i wish to unhear."
