Start by creating a skeleton of sorts. This will help with the general placing of lines and anatomy. Your skeleton doesn't have to be perfect. I'd recommend graphing the head and spine first because everything will follow those.

Once you're satisfied with the skeleton, start adding in muscles and such.

You don't have to section off the joints, but I think it's easier to read that way
