It was 1998..A former Action Star who was also an obtuse politician, (almost everyone had said he is and he was) was elected by the people to be the 13th President of the Republic. Well, that's a big 'Wow'. But again, its all sarcasm.
What had happened to the people who marched on the streets in 1986 Peaceful Revolution? The only answer that I could give was.. "Obtuse".
----------------------------------For me, beatings were just a normal part of my daily routine. I ate punches for breakfast and lunch, sometimes, I ate it like brunch. I have my bruises during dinner time at the dinner table.
I am not trying to be funny or make it funny. I am trying to tell it in a most sarcastic way. That somehow, whenever I try to think of it (well, I don't want to), I would not feel some madness in my heart.Somehow, the scars that my aunt and uncle left on me had turned my heart into a diamond. Those beatings, punches and abuses - physically or verbally, had made this petrified soul into titanium.
Thanks to them, I have never been bullied in the harsh environment of the slum's Public/Government School. It was like, "Come on! Who would beat an already beaten kid?"
You never been in hell? Well I did.. Every single day,
But again, from my first grade to my senior years, I have always been consistent to be on the top of every subject and on top of every student..
But unlike all others who have a "Wall of Fame" in their houses, where medals were hanged and trophies and certificates were all placed on a stand - I don't have one.I kept all my medals and certificates in old shoeboxes. I mean, all of them.
My teachers were also the one who went up on the stage every recognition ceremonies. Perhaps, I grew up with a huge void in my heart...UNAPPRECIATED.
But as what I had promised to my dearest mama...
I would never ever forget the sacrifices they made for this country and of course...FOR ME...
Tears fell from my eyes almost everyday, and almost every single night. You can even squeezed the pillow and gather all the pearls of rue I have ever released from my eyes..
But still, "No retreat, No surrender."
I have a dream, though reality finds it bitter for me.. 💔
(History Lesson:)
In 2001, (I was already 18 years old that time), I saw something funny on the headlines..
The people who elected the "Obtuse President", were also the same people (well, not all of them, but many of them) who marched on the streets again to dethrone the then-president Joseph Ejercito Estrada. The question was, "Why do these people even elected this former Action Star and then withdraw their support from him?"
Well, I have an answer.. "Obtuse".
I guess, number 13 is really special though - in some horrifying way..
The Obtuse President was put into jail because of PLUNDER, and he reigned his action stunts in his Presidential stint for just 3 years.. He was ousted by the obtuse people who voted for him.
