It was July 16, 2007 when I married Marie. It was just a simple garden wedding, full of close friends and relatives and of course...
SUNFLOWERS.Then..
In my mind I said, "I have it all!".
I am now a cardiologist and a chief medical consultant, working for the finest hospital in the country, located in the finest city in the whole country. They offered me a house and a car to work for them, and I grabbed it. I have a beautiful wife, Marie...
"What else could I wish in my life way back then? "But...
I felt so empty, and I don't know why. It was not about our marriage, because Me and Marie were so much in love with each other.
There was something in my heart that made me felt so agitated and quite bored working for THE finest hospital in the country.
One evening, I can't sleep and I'm wide awake. Marie saw me and she hugged me while we were both in our bed, and spoke, "What's wrong Honey? Why are you not asleep?"
I replied mindlessly and bluntly, "Honey, I am not happy on what I am doing right now.".
She immediately turned on the lamp and sat on our bed, then gaze at me, "But this was your dream, right? You are working in the best hospital in the country, you have a great position there...I don't understand Hon.", she spoke with a confused, mild toned voice.
"I don't know.. It all began when I saw the news last week.", I replied.
"Oh, about the bombings in Mindanao by the communist rebels and the extremists?",she asked.
"Yes, that's ONE of the reasons, but the other one, was because I felt that I am needed THERE, more than I am needed HERE."
Marie was speechless that time. She looked down on the floor, stared at it... BLANKLY.
"Marie.. Honey... I wanted to go to Mindanao, and help save lives there.", I hugged her, and kissed her on the forehead. "I know it's so selfish for you and for the both of us.. But.. Its.. Its really just sad to see a sight of a battlefield with dead bodies of innocent people in there, and I'm just here, sleeping comfortably without doing anything, when I feel I can do something....", I continued, and hugged Marie tightly, with so much love for her.
She leaned her forehead next to mine, we were face to face, eye to eye, and she uttered in a very soft and sweet voice, as if an angel, "Where you go, I go.. If that will make you happy, then I will also be happy to be on your side. Remember our vow before God.. in sickness and in health, for better or for worst, 'til death do us part, right?" She kissed me gently on the forehead and hugged me so tight.
"I love you Honey."
"I love you too."
(Then... the next part is not PG-13 anymore. So let's cut it here, okay?)
(To be continued...)
