~Jack's POV~

Bored.

Numb.

That was all Jack seemed to feel nowadays.

Was it always this boring before he moved into the Slender mansion? Jack remembered being one of the first creatures Slender had offered residence to at his estate. Sure, there were others besides him, but he wasn't really one to make conversation, so it was pretty quiet around the house.

He did eventually get to know some of the residents since he was basically the doctor for everyone there, yet everything was relatively formal back then. It wasn't until Slender started bringing in more people that the mansion started to become more hectic, especially with all the "troublemakers" around like Toby, who just couldn't seem to sit still for a second.

There was always something going on in the mansion, and you couldn't go in a room without having something fly through the air at some point. It always annoyed Jack . . . but now he kinda missed how something always seemed to be happening.

Jack had spent most of the day sitting on the couch, bored out of his mind. He wore only a dark gray tank top and black sweats, his hair disheveled and his mask on the table.

I should be doing something . . . I shouldn't just be lounging around the house all day.

Jack peered out the window and determined that it was close enough to nightfall for his . . . extracurricular activities.

Maybe I can go out and hunt.

Last time he checked, he had enough food for the next three days. But hunting for fun seemed appealing to him at the moment.

Jack got off the couch and gathered his clothing and trusty scalpel, along with a few jars for organs he might decide to take for snacks. The best decision would be to hunt in a town farther away than the one nearest him, but he really liked the forest that surrounded this town.

Maybe I could just . . . go out and take a stroll?

It had been a while since he took in any type of scenery, and every time he had been out was only for hunting. I guess just hanging out for a night wouldn't hurt.

Jack decided against bringing the jars, but he still donned his mask and slid the scalpel into the pocket of his hoodie.

The forest was indeed nice. It had been a long time since Jack saw a sunset. The mix of colors the sunset emitted was peaceful. Jack let out a sigh.

Perhaps this was exactly what he needed: complete peace. But he knew that it would eventually end. After all, he was a monster . . . A being that hunted and killed humans to survive. A murderous creature hanging out with other "monsters" who were just as bad, if not worse, than he was. There would always be something going on in his life. Although Jack accepted this as truth, it still made him a bit sad. He kind of wished for a simpler life from the Slender mansion, but not one where he'd be alone . . .

Jack was so entranced by his own thoughts that he failed to notice the sound of someone's fast-paced footsteps. It was quiet at first but grew louder as it neared him. Jack turned his head towards the noise just in time to get knocked to the ground.
