Chapter 16
THE NEXT DAY
Everyone came back to visit me and Talon again. I slept curled into Tucker last night and Talon was at the end of the bed in this crib like thing.
“Why isn’t your family here?” Porsche asked and my enter body froze even my heart beat stopped which they all knew because I was still being monitored and am hooked up to this stupid heart monitor.
“Oh they have places to be people to see.” I said and the lie was so flawless that if it wasn’t for the heart rate monitor I would have gotten away with it.
“NATASHA! You’re heart just stopped. STOPPED!” Tyler said staring at me like I was a freak.
“Oh must be a temporary malfunction.” I brushed it off with ease. I had been so happy and I didn’t want this ruining it for me.
“Stop it. Stop ‘holding things back because it makes life easier’!” Tucker said making air quotes. “It doesn’t and you need them. They are your friends and they aren’t going to treat you differently just because of it. Just tell then already get it off your chest!” Tucker pretty much yelled at me and I caved. My entire façade faded. I frowned and tears welled up in my eyes. I willed them to go away, but they just stayed right inside my eye lids.
“Oh honey I’m so sorry I didn’t mean to upset you, I’m sorry you don’t have to tell them, in fact maybe it would be best if you didn’t if that’s what you want.” Tucker rushed rubbing circles into my arm.
“What. Is. He. Talking. About.?” Robin asked and I could tell that he was getting really annoyed.
“Well I before me my mom and dad had 3 sons. So I’m the youngest and only girl of 4 children.” I said trying to start it off, but Mitch cut me off.
“Tucker told us about your family why aren’t they here. Did you run away, did they give you up?”
Everyone was staring at me with annoyed expressions. “No they died.” I said and everyone’s eyes snapped open wide staring at me with shock.
“How did they die?” Sarg asked.
“Car ac….” Tucker flicked my nose to stop me from lieing again.
I signed “They died while I was at a friends house.” Tucker flicked my nose again.
“Stop lieing to them!”
I groaned out. “I watched them get killed while I was hiding in a basket.” I said and everyone gasped. Tucker gave me a look.
“Tell them everything.” I shook my head and Tucker looked away from me for a second. When he looked back at me he was smirking. When I looked where Tucker had been looking I noticed Mitch’s eyes turned brown which wouldn’t have been weird at all if it wasn’t for the fact that his eyes were purple before which I had always assumed was because he wore contacts. My head throbbed.
“I was ra-” I cut myself off mid sentence and used all my energy to push Mitch’s command back. He was rather powerful, but not powerful enough for me. I pushed a little harder and I ended up making Mitch stagger back a couple steps. My breath was short and quick.
“Never try to do that to me again. Understood?” My voice was low and I put every ounce of pain, betrayal and disappointment into it as I could.
Mitch’s face was staring at me in horror.
“Look I’m sorry, but I don’t like people trying to control me it’s a rather large pet peeve of mine.” I said laughing lightly trying to get everyone to lighten up.
“How did you do that? No one has ever been able to block me.” Mitch looked at Tucker and his eyes went brown again.
“Mitch is awesome.” Tucker said and then he glared at Mitch.
“See, Tucker can read minds which means that he would have an incredible wall blocking his mind from everyone else, but you, you actually pushed me to stop pushing you. How?” Mitch was stunned.
“I don’t know I just did.” I really had no idea how I did it, I just wanted him to stop and he did.
After a little while things slowly started to fade back to normal conversations. I ended up telling them the whole truth, me being raped because I was in a gang, what I saw when my parents died. We spent a lot of time talking about it and it turns out that they think the name of the man who did all those awful things was Serevin Skin. He was once a Teaecho, but he was using his powers in horrible ways so his powers were stripped from him. They told me that they were going to put all they had towards finding him.
2 Months Later
Natasha’s POV
So We have found a home. It is more like a mansion, but everyone pays equal rent so it was easy to afford. It has 10 bedrooms and Tucker and I share one. Talon has his own room, but his crib is in Tucker and I’s room for now. Talon is amazing and it’s hard for people not to fall in love with him as soon as they see him.
Tucker has gone to get food so I’m sat on my bed with Talon sleeping beside me.
“Parker? Are you there? I haven’t heard anything from you in 2 months. Please just say something.” I pleaded into thin air, but I knew it was useless. I already knew that I would never hear Parkers voice inside my head again. But it doesn’t hurt to try.
I looked outside into the sky “We are so close to finding him. Finding that man and when we do we are going to put him in jail. I promise you guys that I won’t let the man who killed you get away with it. I swear it.” I said to the clouds in the sky as if my family could actually hear me.
