"Jungkook?"
Glancing up, I look to see Jimin coming up towards me. He places his hand on my forehead and gives me a worried look, "You have a fever, are you okay?"
Nodding, I move away his hand and walk out of the bathroom. Jimin follows me into the classroom and we sit down in our seats. I notice that Aruka isn't in her seat when lecture is about to start again. The teacher walks in and the room goes silent with the usually sigh of everyone. Continuing on with his lecture, I put my head down on my desk, feeling the cold surface against my hot face. As I cool down, I realize Aruka is smiling at me. Confused, I glance at her, I didn't hear or sense her going to her seat. It's like she's a ghost.
*
Finally the last hour of the lecture finishes and everyone gets up to leave. Aruka is the first one to get out the door, somehow passing by everyone else. Walking off of campus, I start heading home after waving goodbye to Jimin. My shoulder bumps into a guy's shoulder, making us stop and turn to each other. "Sorry," I say, trying to continue walking, but I get stopped by him.
"Yo, Jungkook?" He says with a mischievous grin. Furrowing my brows, I stare at his face, but I don't recognize him.
"Who are you?" I ask, trying not to sound rude.
"Wow~ It really worked." The man laughs, spouting out nonsense, "Now that you're not going to get in my way, I can have her to myself." With that, he turns and starts walking away from me without letting me ask anything else.
Scratching my head, I continue walking home, shrugging it off. "He must be crazy," I say to myself. When I turn onto the street my house is on, I notice the familiar swaying long hair on the other side of the street. Her arm is around the same man with the doctors coat. Aruka helps him walk down the sidewalk and up into the same house I helped him go to before.
Surprisingly, Aruka steps into the house with him and shuts the door behind her. Opening the door to my house, I walk inside to be greeted sweetly by my dad. "Do you know any of the neighbors on the other side of the street?" I ask.
Raising a brow, my dad responds, "No, why? Do you want me to talk to them?"
"I was just wondering, this neighborhood is quiet," I say, shaking my head.
He hands me a cup of thick red fluid, walking away once it's in my grasp. Tossing my head back, I gulp it down and throw the cup into the sink before heading to my room. The smell of my room grows strong of the blue essence sitting on my desk. Taking a deep breath, I suddenly grow tired and decide to climb into bed early. Shutting my eyes, I sink into the darkness of my repeating dream that keeps haunting me.
...
"Forget me."
...
"Jungkook-ah~"
Who are you?
"Do you want to remember?"
What did I forget?
"Or does it hurt too much?"
What happened?
A gunshot rings through my ears with silence following behind it. Until a heavy thud is heard to the side of me. When I turn to look, my vision is filled with a deep red, no longer darkness. I can't see anything besides the haunting red color blinding my vision.
Panting, I wake up from my dream, the darkness coming back to my shut eyelids. The feeling of someone stroking my hair soothes the incoming headache from my mind. Sitting up and opening my eyes, I look around to find no one in my room besides me. Wiping the sweat dripping down the side of my face, I get up and jump into a cold shower. The icy water drops drip down my pale skin, already numb by my cold blood. Tears drip down my face as I think about the gunshot although I have no idea what happened.
After an hour of sitting under cold water, I get out of the shower and change into the usual clothes. Heading downstairs, I look to find the container on the dining table without a note. Sighing, I glance behind me to see my dad's bedroom door shut. Stuffing the container into my bag, I leave the house and start heading to school. Behind me, I hear a door shut quietly from the other side of the road.
Looking behind my shoulder, my eyes land on Aruka also walking to school. Jogging across the road, I stop in my tracks and wait for her to catch up to me. She silently walks past me without making a sound, not even a tap of her shoes. I continue walking, keeping up with her by her side, trying to peer at her face. "Umm.. can you see?" I ask as she constantly trips over small things such as twigs and rocks.
She turns her face in my direction but trips on the uneven sidewalk. On reflex, I grab her waist and pull her up so she doesn't fall. Squirming, she immediately pushes me away, putting distance between us. I can visibly see her arms shaking as she holds up her hands to prevent me from coming any further. "I'm fine.." Aruka says before running off to the university.
I'm left in confusion as I watch her stumble her way to campus. Shortly after, I follow her footsteps until I arrive onto campus grounds. I can tell that today's lectures will be very boring and long, so the moment I sit on my seat, I lay my head down and start to sleep.
*
Jolting upwards, I rub the sleep from my eyes as the teacher slams his hand on his podium, signaling everyone to leave. I kept falling asleep between every single one of today's lectures. Sighing, I get up and walk out of the building. The moment the outside wind hits my face, a whiff of blood travels up my nose. My mouth starts to tingle as I inhale the scent and instinctly follow where the smell is coming from.
The scent leads me to behind the school, but there's no one around. Looking down, I see a red stain on the grass ground, standing out in broad daylight. As I get closer, I realize that it's a dead crow. In the nearby distance I hear rustling and mumbled words of a guy talking. Quietly, I walk past the bird and turn the corner of the building, making sure that I don't make a sound. Spotting the guy a few ways in front of me, behind the neighboring building, I slowly make my way behind a nearby tree.
Squinting, I notice that it's the same guy who bumped into me, spouting nonsense from earlier. He slams his hand against the building and that's when I realize Aruka hiding, cowering in his shadow. "Stop being ridiculous, just say it. You need me," The guy grins, looking down upon Aruka.
Suddenly feeling a burning sensation of anger throughout my body, I run up to the man and pull him off of her. I throw a punch at his face without even knowing why I'm so mad. The man glares at me and clicks his tongue, "It's always you." He wipes his bleeding lip and soon turns to run away.
When I turn back around to check on Aruka, she falls right onto my chest. Wrapping my arm around her, I pull her back up, trying to help her stand. Her tiny body felt limp in my arm, with no attempt to stand up. "Aruka? Are you okay?" I ask, trying to get movement out of her by slightly shaking her. Curiously, I move my hand towards her bangs, wanting to look at her full face.
Before I could touch her bangs, she grabs my wrist, stopping my hand from going closer to her face. "Sorry.." Aruka says before standing up and running away while stumbling on her own feet.
"Who.. are you?" I say to myself as I watch her turn the corner around the building, feeling a slight headache creep into my mind.
