"Hello to you too, then," Audrey chimed in.
"Good morning, your majesty," I retorted. What was I doing? I needed them to be on my side, "So what did I miss?"
Arthur gave Audrey a look. They smiled.
"What? Tell me."
"Well...it was you!" they screamed in unison. "You were selected! You are the Chosen One!"
I couldn't remember a time that I had been happier. Out of every candidate, all 574 of them, I had been picked to attend the course of a lifetime. I could now go to any film school I wanted. Learn it all. There was a bright future ahead for me. I had loved films ever since I could comprehend what was happening in them. I loved black and white dramatic, horror or comedy films. Not movies, though. Movies are different. Films are elegant, graceful, an experience. Movies are something you watch with your acquaintances or in class. This was amazing. I was going to be big. I knew that now. I could change the world with my own creations and show people how I feel and my films would be studied for their brilliance in the highest class universe. I was so happy, I thought I might burst.
I don't think I actually expressed any of my emotions verbally, though. I think I just stood there and stared into space.
"Anybody in there?" Arthur waved his hand in front of my face. "Hello?"
"I just - wow. I cannot believe - me? Are you sure? I just -"
Rather impatiently because of my lack of emotion, Audrey halted my confusion. "Yes. It was you. Now sit down. We actually have a class."
It was such a happy moment. If only I knew it would be one of the last.
