That night was the start of Veru's bad nightmares. She always sees that woman in her dream laughing, and teasing her to kill a human. She doesn't know who she is, she just always says " She is just a dream", but deeply she's scared and she feared every word that woman uttered.
"The King says you're having bad nights these few days, is it true?"
"Yeah. I have so much nightmares these few days, Miguel. I don't know why. That woman, I think she's haunting me."
"Haunting? What did you do that makes her haunt you?"
"Please promise to keep this as a big secret. Don't tell this to anyone even to your parents."
"I promise Veru."
"Few days ago, when I was watching the movement of stars one night, I saw two vampires. They're wearing red capes, I don't know who they are. Then I saw the two of them sucking a human's blood then they tore him into pieces from the back gate of the quarters. I felt so much pity for that man, then I turned away and go home so confused. That's it. I start dreaming about her."
"So you saw a crime. It's forbidden to abused a human's blood. We are allowed to suck blood but we're not allowed to get their body parts. Don't worry Veru, it will be over sooner."
Miguel gave a hug to Veru. This hug gives a big comfort to the vampire princess. Their friendship is strong enough for them to be that bonded.
Days passed and the King announced that he is allowing Veru to join Miguel in their conquest in the USA. He thought that this will be better for Veru so that she will trained for her future job, to be the next queen.
"So next week we'll be moving to US. Ready yourself Veru, we'll taking Fine Arts."
"I'm so much excited! I can't believe this. Father allowed me to go outside the quarters for the very first time. And it's all beacuse of you. Thank you Miguel!"
"You're always welcome Veru. I'll do anything, just for you."
Miguel looked at Veru and gave his sweetest smile. Miguel has feelings for her bestfriend and he can't still admit it to Veru. He knows that when the right time comes, he'll be able to say that he loves his bestfriend.
Saturday. The day when Veru and Miguel will travel to US.
"Take care my daughter. Take this scarlet bracelet. This will serve as your protection from any danger that will come. Promise me that you'll be back sooner and that you'll never forget who you are."
"Mother I promise. Please take care of our quarters and yourself."
"Veru, my princess, now is the right time to spread your wings. Fly high and far my dear. Reach for your dreams. But as you promise, you'll never forget your home."
"Father. Don't cry. I promise I'll never forget evertyhing that made me. I'll always write letters. Take care and I love you both."
The King and Queen hugged and kissed Veru for the last time. Tears came out in Veru's eyes. But she remained strong, she wanted to follow her dreams, to be independent and to taste being ordinary like others do.
"Miguel, promise that you'll never abandon our daughter. Promise me that you'll be Veru's protector and friend."
"I promise it my King. I'll always be at the side of Veru."
The two bowed with respect for the monarch. Then, they rode Miguel's car that will bring them to the airport. Veru waved at her parents and other vampires. She'll surely missed them, a lot.
Veru was nervous, she can't hide it. Her eyes were roaming everywhere, to every street, people and spots they'd saw.
Miguel holds her hand so tight, " Veru, don't be scared I'm here. I will protect you. I will be your guardian, I will be your shield. I will do everything just to protect you.", he said giving a sweet smile to Veru.
"Thank you Miguel. I just feel......I just feel, uncomfortable. Maybe it's because I am not much used to it. This world outside the quarters is like a new world for me to walk and to understand. I know it would not be easy for me that's why, I'm quite scared." she explains as her eyes soaked with tears.
"And that's the reason why I'm here. I'll be your guide in coping to our new world.", he said as he gives him a hug.
