Overview: We humans thrive on curiosity because we simply love learning new things, and curiosity is the reason as to how far we have gotten to where we are. One of the greatest genres in the literary world is mystery and curiosity is what drives the reader to keep on reading. It is why mysteries are often so successful as a book.

Task: We would like you to write a mystery of your very own. Remember the golden rule of being unique and come up with your own crime scene, a mystery with a little bit of fantasy, all sorts of things! Some elements that would be extra bonuses are:

-If the mystery keeps readers on the edge of their seats

-Has a "Totally did not see that coming!" moment.

-Creativity & organization

Here is the grading/judging criteria, don't worry if you don't make all of these!

⟩ Character Development ⟩ No story is complete without thorough character development. We need to see a positive (or maybe even negative!) change in the character(s), or at least their mindset, since that is legit what we're all about. (Approx. worth 30 points!)

⟩ Details ⟩ We're talking nice setting description and character description and the likes. Especially if it's food descriptions so we can torture ourselves 😢 (Approx. worth 20 points)

⟩ Relevancy ⟩ Hey, we love a good story but when we're reading entries, our minds are only set to read about the specific entry topic, we're not ready for anything else! Just make sure your entry doesn't stray far from the given topic! (25 points)

⟩ Creativity ⟩ A pretty important one here. Our minds are all so special and, as such, so should be every entry! Heavy plagiarism is obviously not tolerated. (15 points)

⟩ Grammar ⟩ Good grammar is a plus because we love looking at commas and everything in the right, places (haha get the joke) and it shows that you're kind of legit and take your work seriously, and honestly that's wholesome (10 points)

DUE DATE: March 15, 2019 MIDNIGHT EST TIME No second chances will be given

The entry should be 2,000 words maximum and should be written as a short story. Yes, we will do a word count! You are welcome to put in any other elements but it must be a mystery!
