Hey there! After a long wait, we are proud to announce the winner of contest #2. Congratulations to Evie_Emerald13579! Thank you so much for your entry and hard work.
We want to assure everyone that though Evie's entry was longer than required, we have condensed the chapters of the entry and it still had all that was needed so props to Evie for that! Here is the book (with the winner sticker!) that was submitted. Please be sure to visit her page and check it out! It's called "The Hybrid Killer" (https://www.wattpad.com/story/178769611-the-hybrid-killer)
Here is an excerpt from the entry (PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE ARE SOME GORY DETAILS):"Horror filled Bria's eyes as soon as she looked over the scene. An ambulance was on the scene. A stretcher team loading a man with purple and red hair into it. The man's suit was torn, and he had purple and crimson dragon wings. Slash marks coated the sleeves of the shirt, blood evidently seeping through. A stump of a tail was visible.
Across the way, lying in a blood puddle was a woman with gorgeous brown hair and jungle green eyes gone lifeless. Her silver wolf ears had been mutilated, strands of red hanging off her head, her tail in a similar condition, bone barely poking out. A bullet wound was right in her head, and an H was carved onto her arm, right through the silver business dress she was wearing.
Bria could feel the tears running down her face, but all of a sudden, the rest of the world went silent and blurry. Flashbacks began to creep into her mind and grasp firmly onto her. A woman once with purple fox ears and a matching tail, once smiling, lying in her own puddle of red. Blond hair being tainted by the spill of innocent blood. An H was carved right into her back, which was visible when she was turned over to reveal the fatal shot to the ribs she had received."
Here is the grade and evaluation that @Evie_Emerald13579 received:
• Character Development (30 points) - Bria was a great character to read but we hoped there would be more character development. We do find out a lot about her character such her being the chiefs daughter and being a great detective and her grief through the death of her mother and later her other family members. She remains the same throughout but is a good character. 21/30
• Details (20 points) - This story is bit long but after condensing it, the details are still very good. There was vivid imagery present all throughout and the organization of the story was smooth. The details helped us understand the story to a great extent, although some were unnecessary. 19/20
• Relevancy (25 points) - Was relevant to our topic of mystery and had us wondering what will happen next? Who is the Hybrid Killer? Is Bria a target? The reveal of the killer was sudden but still unexpected and a good read. 25/25
• Creativity (15 points) - This is a very creative entry! This whole mystery world filled with animal creatures instead of humans is a unique concept that we haven't read before. The small detail of Bria being a fox because she is smart is nice. There should have been more done with the fact that they're animals, but it is still pretty creative. 14/15
• Grammar (10 points) - The grammar and structure throughout was pretty much flawless. There were some misspellings here and there but it didn't distract from the actual story. 10/10
• TOTAL: 89/100
We also would like to give a shout-out to our 2nd place winner KatanaChan1 & to our 3rd place winner UnaisaHaque . Check out their entries called "Which is Which" and "The Hypnotists", they are both on our reading list. Thank you both for your entries and hard work, it really means a lot!
Congratulations once again to Evie and as for contest #3, please give us a week or more to get it ready. If you are already sure that you would like to participate in contest #3, let us know by commenting on this chapter. Also make sure to DM us if you change your mind. Have a great day!
