Cameron and Kate arrived at the school on time. This was something rare for them, their busy schedules didn't allow it often. They were looking for Ruth it was her big day. She was hosting her classes annual fundraiser. Every year they would raise money for the school. This was something Ruth loved, she was a pro had her mothers spark.
The kindergarten students made their way in with Ruth leading. Kate and Cameron waived and smiled watching on. Ruth hosted the event with so much flair and enthusiasm, that made Kate proud. She never received that type of support from her mother. In fact all they did was fight, she could barely talk to her mother as a youth.
As the event was coming to a close Kate noticed a familiar face standing in the back corner of the auditorium. It was John Kelsing. He was watching standing arms crossed. Kate turned around as she was being asked to come to the stage. This was normal , every year she would be asked to speak. She was a dedicated parent and donated her time and money in the schools activities.
"I would like to thank the entire staff here , I'm proud to be apart of this annual event ."She shook hands and took pictures as the event wrapped up.
"Quite a princess you have there" John said approaching. Kate smiled getting her families attention.
"Thank you sweetie this is John Kelsing he is a custodian at the university."
"Pleasure to meet you " Cameron said as the two men exchanged a hand shake.
"And this must be Ruth .... hello there" John said.
   "Hello " she replied.
"I really enjoyed your event your a natural."
"Thank you I'm use to it now" Ruth said as Kate and Cameron watched on.
"So what brought you out here?" Kate asked.
"I heard the school was hoisting a event thought I stop by."
"Oh yea we do this every year the whole community comes out" Kate said nodding .
"So how long have you worked as a custodian ?"Cameron asked.
" Not long ....maybe four months". Cameron nodded.
" It must be hectic work , the school being large that is"
"Well I'm making the best of it" John said .
"If I may add John always has my class spotless " Kate added turning to Cameron. He smiled, that was something she rarely saw from him. It gave her a idea all of a sudden.
"Say sweetie ... you know your sister is moving out town soon."
"She is that always slips my mind."Kate motioned to John then back to Cameron. He already knew exactly what she was thinking. That look she gave him whenever she had a idea. He glanced at John , who was  confused trying to figure out what was going on.
"Say John would you be interested in another job ?"Cameron asked.
"What kind of job may I ask."
"Thing is me and Kate are swamped right now , our schedules don't allow us a lot of time at home ."
"I understand I know how that can be" John replied.
"We need a babysitter for Ruth and chores done around the house Kate says your pretty handy."
  " I don't want to intrude sir."
"No your fine , my wife is good with picking up people's vibes" Cameron said looking at Kate.
"Well in that case I'll be glad to help you ."They shook hands as Kate and Ruth watched.
"Alright then , Kate will give you directions ." The nervousness was written all over her face, as she sat up in the bed. She signed looking over to Cameron who was staring back at her.
"You look nervous " he said .
"I admit.... I am."
" I think we can trust him " she turned back towards the television. She wasn't sure how this would play out. But after all they were desperate.
" I'm thinking about Ruth , with everything she's going through ." He held her close to his chest.
" Listen to me , everything will be alright with Ruth she's progressing ." She kissed him gently, his warm hands on her cheek. She wanted to believe he was right, she wanted desperately to believe everything was alright. The fact still remained their lives were to busy at this point. They needed something to believe in.
