"We're moving to Australia this time," dad said with with enthusiasm. I don't see the big deal that he's so extatic about this. "And this we're gonna stay for quite a long time. Because I've been picked to be the manager for the new branch there," dad continued. Well it's not a long time for me, I'm only gonna stay there for two more years then I'm gonna move to California with my brother.

"Well that's great, right Elle? This time you don't have to say goodbye," mom said while looking at me across the dining table.

"Everybody gonna say goodbye eventually mom," I said looking at her.

"Come on Elle, we're celebrating dad's new job, don't bring such heavy air," she said continue cutting her lamb chop.

"Yeah, mom just want you to make friends," dad said. I resist my desire to rolled my eyes. Yeah, mom is always the best person in the world. And I'm always the worst kid in the world. That's just how the world works, I'm always wrong. That's why I never want to talk too much, everytime I open my mouth, there's always something offended her. "Anyway, I already look at the new house in Australia and it's beautiful, both of you gonna love it," dad continued while sipping his red wine. Ugh, this is the time of the year when I wish I could drink.

"Really? Is it in the suburbs? You know I don't like the sound of cars or motorcycle or people when I sleep. You remember Kansas? That ended up badly for everyone," mom said also taking a sip of her red wine. I continue eating my steak. I remembered Kansas very blurry, I was 6 years old. What I remember is that mom was annoyed over the noises coming from the road. We live in the city so there's a lot of people running around the street. When we were all asleep, the road getting really crowded and there's a lot of noises that disturb our sleep. Mom snapped and called the police. The police told the people on the road that my mom is the one who complain about disturbance. They pissed and trashed our place, so we ended living in a motel for 2 months until my dad was placed in Chicago.

“Don’t worry honey, we gonna live in the suburbs, the house is lovely. Not to big, but not small. It’s simple, just like our first house,” dad said with romantic voice and looking at mom. And they just smile and giggled like stupid teenagers. I feel sick in my stomach, I suddenly feel full, I push my plate and drink my water. I mean it’s good they still have the ‘spark’ but come on.

I try to think about something else. Australia, I always want to go there so I guess it’s gonna be a good thing. I wish Darrell is here though, I miss him. Why didn’t he come and take me with him when he left the house. I don’t want to be stuck with ... the rest of the family. I sighed, please be the fastest two years of my life.
