Chapter 1
When you're in love you would expect a happy ending. I mean, that would make it easier right? But in my case, it wasn't that simple. In my case I was a princess. A princess that could never make a mistake, ever. It was day I arrived back at court, that I fell for someone I could never have and someone who could never have me. The day I met him, changed everything, and his name was Ezra. The love of my life...
Riding in the carriage with my sister Mary, and our ladies, Lady Jane and Lady Lola, was beautiful. The sights, the smells, I loved nature. The thought of being outside was magic. We were arriving back at court of request of the king, my father, King Henry VIII. He had requested that me and my sister come back to court after he had claimed us legitimate. Although I don't think it mattered that much considering I don't think that I would ever become queen. Unless my father, brother and sister died without any heirs. It sounds very unlikely but it could happen.
I looked upon my sister and her lady and smiled. Then I turned and looked at my lady and again smiled.
All of a sudden my sister spoke...
"So Elizabeth, can you not wait to meet all the handsome men at court?"
"I guess, but I am more looking forward to seeing out home again," I answered.
"Oh Elizabeth, you never change. I don't know about you but I can't wait to meet a prince or even a king," Mary said.
"Typical you Mary, but have you even thought about home?" I asked.
There was a moment of silence in the carriage for a little while, as Mary thought of an answer to give me.
"If I become queen and met handsome men, then yes," Mary said.
We then laughed together like we always did. Despite the fact that Mary was my half sister, me and Mary got a long so well that it seemed like we were twins. The age difference was quite big but me and Mary ignored that and enjoyed each other's company.
All of a sudden, I looked out of the carriage and saw the castle. My home. The place I loved so much as a young child but then was sent away to be taken care of with Mary as a lady. It looked the same as it did back then.
"Mary, look there's the castle," I said, showing Mary our home.
"It's beautiful," she said.
My eyes were glued to the castle until we finally arrived...
"It's time," I said.
"Yeah," Mary said.
As me and Mary got ready to get of the carriage, we saw a group of guards form outside of the carriage, waiting for our arrival...
"Princess Mary and Princess Elizabeth," a guard announced.
Stepping outside of the carriage, I see my father; King Henry VIII, his wife Catherine Parr, my brother Prince Edward VI, many noble man and many lords and ladies. My heart raced, this was it. This was my chance to present myself. Me and Mary walked out and fall to our knees, pledging ourselves to them...
"My daughters, welcome," King Henry said.
"Thank you, your majesty," me and Mary said at once.
"Come, come," he said, taking us through the castle doors.
We followed him through the castle doors to this beautiful ballroom where lots of people were dressing the room up...
"This. This is all for you," King Henry stated.
My eyes lit up. He had done all of this for me and Mary.
"This is amazing," I said.
"Do you like it? he asked.
