Artemis walked along the streets of New York with caution. Though she blended in, her attire was what a typical girl in her mid-twenties would wear in the modern age. She sported a pair of tanned ankle boots (high heel block), a pair of boyfriend jeans-ironically, an open cardigan and a white tank top to match. Anyone would think she was an ordinary mortal, albeit her beauty was quite the eye catcher.
Despite being surrounded by the crowds of people needing to be somewhere, some with fast paces and others slow, Artemis still stood out to them. They parted for her if she nudged them gently, as if sensing the confidence she had within herself and respecting it. It was also probably due to the fact that unlike any normal mortal, Artemis had a certain glow about her that they were very attracted to. Perhaps it was her confidence? Who am I kidding, it was obviously her very appealing physical and facial features. Being a goddess had its perks, but only to a certain extent.
You see, just like any mortal, their actual physical beauty was determined by their genes. Artemis and her twin, Apollo, were the possibly the only immortals to rival even Aphrodite in terms of looks. Why? Their parentage. There is no other explanation to it besides the fact that they are Olympians.
They were blessed with regal features, a classic and exotic look that people found very attractive. High cheekbones, full lips, defined jaws, great hair, pretty eyes with dark eyebrows and lashes to match, what more could anyone want?
Artemis looked like a mortal-clothes wise- but still felt uncomfortable. Her clothes were not what she was used to, yes she had style and she could pull of many different colours due to her tanned skin, but hunting was her thing. She was used to hunting clothes, and heels even thick ones, were not at all what she consistently wore like Aphrodite.
She had her bow ready if there was any sign of the escaped Drachne that she was hunting. Her bow hidden from mortals eyes as a necklace obviously.
Her father had assigned her to a mediocre capture alive mission, due to the fact that he did not want this specific monster to get away. It was unknown why she held such significance, but Artemis learned not to question her father in these circumstances, especially when he was still sensitive about the fates declaring Artemis was to be released from her vow.
The very notion both surprised her and scared her. Yes, she would admit, her children would be great assets, both immortal and demigod. But for most of her life, her virginity was what she had always protected, she was known for it, worshipped for it. Now what would she be known for? The has-been maiden?
All she knew now, was that it was to be done immediately, it's been months and the fates were becoming incredibly impatient, they were like flies, they just wouldn't leave her alone. Artemis didn't know whether to cry or scream. They were so careless for her emotions or feelings. Who would actually deserve to take her virginity? It was sacred and perhaps no one was worthy of being able to say that they had taken her virginity.
Alas, it had to be done, Artemis would have to choose quickly. But who? It's not like prince charming would suddenly appear out of nowhere and sweep her off her feet. Gods, sometimes she wished her life was a romantic novel, all this crap would occur and would end just as fast.
Artemis froze mid-step as she eyed a very suspicious woman. She fingered her necklace, awaiting for a sign to prove her theory. Then it happened, the mist around the creature's legs faltered, accidently allowing Artemis a glimpse of her scales.
Artemis mimicked the woman's pace as she walked through the hoards of people, seemingly stressed out. Out of blue, she stopped, looking around, like she knew she was being watched, which she was. Artemis turned away and pretended to admire a dress in a passing shop as the Drachne slipped into an alley.
