"Mama, I thirsty!" Marie stuck her hands out so I could help her out of her high chair. I held her in one of my hands as I made my way to the fridge, taking out a bottle of milk for her.
"Here, lets go watch some Spongebob Squarepants in the living room." I walked her to the living room and placed her on the couch. I turned on the TV and let Marie suck on her bottle as she watched her cartoon.
"Hey, Fae?" Jessica called out.
"Yeah, Jess?" I answered. We still lived together as best friends. She's been a great 'second' mother to Marie.
"Phone." She tossed me the house phone. I put it to my ear and walked into a room where no one was. I motioned to Jessica that Marie was on the couch, and she ran over to where she was.
"Hello?" I said.
"Hey, Faelecia?" It was Brendon. It's been over eight months since he tried calling me.
"Look, before you hang up, I wanted to ask you if you wanted to meet up with me at a restaurant, just to catch up." He explained. Why is he calling after eight months?
"I don't know Brendon..." I trailed off.
"No, please, I just want to see my wife again."
"Ex-wife." I corrected. He sighed and I heard him do something.
"Please, just, please come..." he said.
"Fine!" I sighed loudly. "What time?"
"Oh yay! In an hour at the café on Bleaker street, can't wait to see you doll!" He cheered. I rolled my eyes and hung up the phone.
"Who was it?" She asked as I walked back out to the living room.
"Guess."
"Brendon?" She inquired. I nodded my head slowly and she gasped.
"What did he say or do?" She stood up, immediately walking over to me and placing her hands on my shoulders.
"He wants me to go out with him at the café on Bleaker." I informed her. She sighed and rolled her eyes.
"After eight months, really? Please tell me you said no. Please, just please." She begged.
"I said I would go, and it's in an hour, so I need to get ready. Can you take care of Marie?" I asked.
"Fine, but call me if he does something wrong, alright?" I nodded and went to my bedroom to go get dressed. I took one of the fancy dresses he had given me on our many dates.
"Woah, I'm surprised this could still fit me after a year and a pregnancy." I muttered to myself in the mirror. It was a beautiful red dress. I'm only wearing this to show Brendon that I'm perfect without him.
"Alright Jess, I'm leaving!" I yelled out, running to the living to kiss Marie, who seemed hypnotized by the TV.

I walked into the restaurant and immediately spotted Brendon. I rolled my eyes and walked over to the table to meet eyes with man I never wanted to see.
"Hey! Long time no see!" He smiled, getting up and going to hug me. I backed away and he just looked dumb for doing that.
"I'm not comfortable with you touching me." I told him. He nodded and sat down across from me.
"So, how's it going? How's Marie?" He asked.
"Marie's at home. I decided it would be best for her safety not to bring her." His eyes softened. God, those eyes. That hair. His lips. He's so cute. Stop it, he ruined your life.
"Cmon, you think I would actually would hurt a little child?" He seemed offended that I thought that.
"Well, you called me baby all the time and you still hurt me." I retorted.
"I was drunk. If it helps, I stopped drinking ever since you left me. I've regretted every single thing I've done since you left, and I'm so extremely sorry." He apologized.
"I guess I can forgive you, but I'm not remarrying you, ever!" I hardened my tone.
"I get that, but can we still be friends?" He asked slowly, knowing that he's pushing his luck.
"Yes, we can." I smiled. He had a reassuring look on his face.
"Can we exchange numbers then, is that too far?" He questioned.
"It's perfectly fine for friends to do." I handed him my phone as he did his.
"There." We both said in unison. We laughed and ordered our drinks.
"Do you mind if I sit beside you?" He asked. I nodded and he moved beside me. He wrapped an arm around my shoulder, like when he made me meet his parents.
"I missed this..." he trailed off. I nodded.
"Me too." We both looked at each other. I felt myself leaning in, and I saw him doing the same. Our lips collided and I felt myself hooking on. His hand went to my cheek as we continued. He let go and I saw a glimmer in his eye.
"No, no, no, don't let go, give me more." I begged. He smiled and we continued. I don't think any of us cared that people could see us.
"I missed this too." I whispered throughout the kiss. I can't believe that I found myself begging for more. Brendon let go and smiled back at me.
"Brendon, screw the no dating! I love you!" I breathed.
"Oh honey! I love you too!"
