chapter 3 | marshmellows and dares

tessa's pov

it was now 7:00 and we were all sitting outside toasting marshmallows and making snores. i was sat in between erika and jake on the couch and everyone else was on stools or lawn chairs. we were talking about random things and somehow came to the topic of truth or dare.

"jake... truth, or dare." anthony asks all suspicious like.

"dare." he says back, "i'm not a truth kind of guy."

"i dare you to run down the street in only your underwear yelling ohio."

"alright then." he says walking inside and out the front door stripping out of his clothes and keeping on everything but his underwear. "OHIO!" he yells constantly until coming back. "that's how us ohio boys do it." he says giving anthony a high five and putting his clothes back on. we go back in to the back yard.

"hmmm... chance. truth. or. dare." jake asks chance.

"dare." chance says back without any hesitation.

"i dare you go in the closet with one of the girls." jake says back pointing to chance with his beer bottle. everyone knows that 'go in the closet' means make out in the closet and i so wasn't doing that.

"not it!" erika yells before me.

"what?! no fair! i'm not doing it." i say back.

"you have to." jake says back taking another sip of beer.

"nope i'm not doing it." i say back crossing my arms and shaking my head skywards.

"if you don't do it then both of you have to drink a bottle of beer." jake says.

"jake you know i'm not 21." i say back.

"too bad which one you taking." he says back.

"i will take the beer because i'm not doing the other one." i say.

"ya me either." chance says backing me up. erika laughs and i give her a death stare.

"alright let's go get the beer." jake says getting up and walking to the kitchen with me and chance following behind. he grabs two beer bottles from the fridge and hands one to me and one to chance. "drink up."

i open the bottle and gulp the whole thing down and when i'm done i set it down on the counter and so does chance. jake is freaking crazy. i walk back outside and fall down to the floor. this is where the beer hit me. i try standing but i can't. erika helps me up. "i'm going to bed." i say as my head sways around. erika walks me up the stairs and in to my room and lays me down on my bed.

"i will be having a talk with jake don't you worry. what he did was messed up." erika says. "get some rest." she says walking out of my room and i immediately crash.

time skip to the next morning

i wake up in the morning and rush to my bathroom and throw up. stupid jake. i slowly make my way downstairs and see jake and erika at the kitchen counter. "tessa, i'm really sorry about last night i don't know what came over me."

"just don't let it happen again.. please." i say back.

"it won't." jake says walking away in to the office. i get a water bottle from the fridge and drink it all then throw up a little more in the sink and erika pats my back. soon after me i see a struggling anthony trying to help chance down the stairs. great.

"good morning boys." erika day to them as chance falls on the ground.

"ughhh..." anthony groans whipping his head back.

"just leave him there he will be fine eventually." erika says back.

"i really hope so." anthony says. i puke in the sink again and erika rubs my back. "hey atleast you're up! how did you sleep tessa?"

"i don't even know.. i can't remember." i say back to anthony and take another sip of water. i look back over at chance laying down on the floor and see him trying to get up. jake walks out and sees chance laying on the floor.

"great!" jake says. he helps chance up and sets him down on the trampoline and chance falls back and lays on the trampoline.

"my head fricking hurts jake." chance complains.

"i'm sorry!" jake whines.
