I don’t want to have to explain the meaning of or the reason why I wrote this story; hopefully it speaks for itself.  However, I did want to explain where this story came from.

It sprang from a (variously worded) Biblical truth that sometimes becomes rather cliché in the Christian world of religious lingo: “Jesus died in our place”, “Jesus took our place on the cross”, “Jesus paid the price for our sins”, etc. (i.e. the many different ways it’s worded).

A few months ago (I don’t even remember what I was doing), I suddenly got a mental picture of being tied to a whipping post when suddenly Jesus was there taking my punishment for me.  I can’t say that this was a “vision from God”, but neither will I say it wasn’t.  That’s not important, really.  What was important to me was the impact that mental image left on me.

I wrote this story down so I could share it with others, hoping that some day I will improve my artistic abilities to draw a series of graphic image that will decently relay short story I typed stemming from the mental image I have in my mind when I think of this.

What does “Jesus died in my place” mean to me?

It means that I deserved death as a just punishment for my sin.  But God, in His mercy and grace, made a way for me to be reconciled back to Him, cleansed from the stains of my sins, clothed in His Righteousness, and called one of His children that will live with Him for all eternity.  How?  Through the redemptive blood of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior, that paid the price for my sin.  (Romans 6:23)

What does “Jesus died in my place” mean to you?
