(A/N: I love Jefferson and Lafayette a lot, and even though Thomas is a cocky bastard, he cares. So yeah, another Modern AU story where Thomas asks a self-conscious smol- AKA the reader -out on a date and makes her feel beautiful. BTW, I love songfics if you haven't found that out yet, so that's what this is ~GiGi)
Story Summary: Reader is always alone, and never talks to anyone. She's lonely as all hell, but then she meets Jefferson. He gets her anything she wants or needs, and makes her feel like someone really wants her.
Things to Know: (Y/n) = Your name
(Y/n) sat alone on the bench. She always sat alone. Alone, at the same park, every single day, at exactly 12:30 every afternoon. Every person in the park never spoke to her, but they knew of her presence. However, no one knew why she would always sit on the same bench, at the same time, at the same park. Maybe she enjoyed the sound of the birds? But the other parks had birds too. Perhaps she felt it was quieter there? In the city, it is hard to find a quiet place.
And the past few days, a man had begun to see her sit there every day. It started with him walking by her without a word. Within a few weeks, he would greet her, then move along. After a month they would sit and talk. Even though the woman didn't speak much, she was kind to him, and polite.
Finally, he realized they never exchanged each other's names. So, at 12:35 that afternoon, he sat beside her, smiling.
"Good afternoon, miss." He said, as usual, beaming at her. She offered a shy smile, timidly waving.
"Good afternoon, sir..." The man decided to get to the point today immediately. "Miss, I've realized that even though we've talked for a while, I've never asked your name!" Her eyes widened slightly, and she sat up a bit straighter. "O-oh! Um.. i-its... (Y/n)." She hid her face tentatively. "It's such an s-silly name, I-I know..." The man smiled, gently taking her hands off of her face. "Not as silly as Thomas."
She blinked in surprise, then realized that was his name. She giggled nervously, her cheeks turning a light shade of red. Thomas smiled. "Now that I know your name, would you care to go have some coffee with me?" Much to his enjoyment, her face turned beet red. "U-um... alright...!"
~~~
That coffee date with Thomas turned into a surprising relationship between a cocky Virginian and a shy peace-loving woman. Every day, he would give (Y/n) a positive comment. It always varied from, "I like what you did with your hair, dear" to "that dress looking beautiful on you". And every comment was slightly different. She quickly realized he was just trying to boost her self-esteem; but yet, it was working?
Finally, one day he offered to walk her home. They had just been on a late-night date and she was exhausted, so of course, she agreed. Thomas smiled and wrapped his arm around (Y/n's), walking her towards his house instead. In her tiredness, she didn't notice and just leaned against his warmth, trying to block out the cold night air.
"Cold, sugar?" He asked, smiling at her.
"Y.. yeah." She admitted.
"Here."
Much to her surprise, he let go of her arm and opened his coat, pulling her into the warmness of the inside of the cloth. Y/n smiled thankfully, snuggling into his side. "Better?" He purred, brushing strands of hair from her face. "Better." She echoed, smiling shyly up at the man. He hummed softly as they walked up to his house, and he gently let her inside. By now she caught on to where they were, but Y/n didn't care.
The inside of his house was very elegant but cozy. Taking the coat off of both of them, he hung it up, then wrapped his arm around her shoulders, leading her to a couch and sitting her down. She yawned, rubbing her eyes, and Thomas smiled. He left for a bit but quickly returned with a large blanket and some pillows. Instead of laying them down her her like she expected, Thomas picked her up after setting the pillows down, then laid on the couch, pulling her onto the chest. With a playful smirk, he settled the blanket over them both.
Her face red, Y/n snuggled into his chest, trying to hide her blush. Thomas chuckled, wrapping his arms around her. "Want me to sing to you?" She looked up at him, her eyes round. "Wh.. what?" "Do you?" He asked again, gingerly playing with some strands of her hair. "U-um.. okay...!" Thomas smiled and kissed her forehead gently, then began.
She just wants to be beautiful.
She goes unnoticed, she knows no limits.
She craves attention, she praises an image.
She prays to be sculpted by the sculptor.
Oh, she don't see the light that's shining,
Deeper than the eyes can find it.
Maybe we have made her blind.
So she tries to cover up her pain and cut her woes away,
'Cause cover girls don't cry after their face is made.But there's a hope that's waiting for you in the dark,
You should know you're beautiful just the way you are!
And you don't have to change a thing, the world could change its heart.
No scars to your beautiful, we're stars and we're beautiful!
Oh-oh, oh-oh.
And you don't have to change a thing, the world could change its heart.
No scars to your beautiful, we're stars and we're beautiful!She sniffled, burying her face in his chest. "Thomas.." He shushed her softly but didn't stop.
She has dreams to be an envy, so she's starving.
You know, covergirls eat nothing.
She says beauty is pain, and there's beauty in everything!
What's a little bit of hunger?
I could go a little while longer, she fades away.
She don't see her perfect, she don't understand she's worth it.
Or that beauty goes deeper than the surface.
Oh, oh
So to all the girls that's hurting,
Let me be your mirror, help you see a little bit clearer,
The light that shines within!There's a hope that's waiting for you in the dark;
You should know you're beautiful just the way you are!
And you don't have to change a thing, the world could change its heart.
No scars to your beautiful, we're stars and we're beautiful!Oh-oh, oh-oh.
And you don't have to change a thing, the world could change its heart.
No scars to your beautiful, we're stars and we're beautiful!No better you than the you that you are (no better you than the you that you are)!
No better life than the life we're living (no better life than the life we're living)!
No better time for your shine, you're a star (no better time for your shine, you're a star)!
Oh, you're beautiful, oh, you're beautiful!And there's a hope that's waiting for you in the dark,
You should know you're beautiful just the way you are!
And you don't have to change a thing, the world could change its heart.
No scars to your beautiful, we're stars and we're beautiful!
Oh-oh, oh-oh.
And you don't have to change a thing, the world could change its heart.
No scars to your beautiful, we're stars and we're beautiful!
