Chara began to feel uneasy.
She and Frisk laid comfortably in bed, arms wrapped tightly around each other. The younger one slept. The older one, not so much.
Flowey somehow made his way back inside of the room and hid well inside of the drawer of the nightstand, quiet gunshots being heard from the game he played.
Chara became distressed; her eyes wouldn't return to normal and she couldn't sleep. Her senses heightened as well, and every time she heard the quiet gunshots, she'd quickly turn her head in the direction of the sound, ready to escape from Frisk's grasp.
But she couldn't.
The demon let out a tired sigh, reaching over to her side to pick up her phone. She unlocks it, tapping the icon that looked like an old telephone and began punching in a few numbers.
This would be her fifth attempt getting in contact with the blue fish. She never answered the calls before and Chara's worry only rose.
Her thumb shakily made it's way to the 'call' option, tapping it and holding the phone to her ear. She waits patiently, planting soft kisses to Frisk's head as she slept.
On ring, two rings, three rings fo-
A familiar raspy voice was heard on the other line, "Babyfish!"
Oh, how fast did the tears fall from her eyes.
"Oh my fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkking god-" Chara's voice shook, nearly sitting up as she forgot about her lover sleeping against her. "You're okay!"
"Yeah, barely," said Undyne. "We weren't very successful. Damn coward ran away before we could catch her. She wounded a few of us, I'll tell you that much."
"How many?" Chara questioned, slightly feeling Frisk move against her a bit. Her eyes gaze downwards, seeing the girl get comfortable again. "And who exactly?"
A faint grunt was heard in the background, followed by a few inaudible voices that Chara couldn't fully recognize. "You wouldn't know 'em," Undyne replied, "They were rookies. Literally came in last week. Just four."
Chara sighs softly, her eyes slowly returning back to its regular crimson shade. She tightens her hold on Frisk just a bit as well and glances out of the window. "Good, serious, or critical condition?" She asks quietly.
Undyne was quiet on the opposite end. Chara raises an eyebrow, her eyes darting to a different direction.
"..critical."
The demon clenches her teeth, letting out a saddened sigh. "I thought as much." Chara glances back to the sleeping girl who shifted a bit within her grasp, pressing yet another kiss to her head. "How bad are your wounds, mom?"
The fish laughed. "My wounds are minor. Nothin' to worry about. Just a few scratches here and there!" She boasts triumphantly, her laughter never seeming to cease. "Ah.. I gotta go. We're taking the bodies to the hospital now to see if we can help them."
Chara was silent for a moment before a faint smile appeared on her face. "Alright. See you soon?"
"Definitely."
The call ended shortly after. Chara sets her phone aside and soon wraps her free arm around Frisk again, resting comfortably on her spot in the bed. She releases another sigh, shutting her eyes, and drifted off into a deep sleep.
