His family? His fucking family?! What the hell?

"You don't know that. What if they hate me?" I whisper shouted. "As if," Gray's little sister snorted. "Where are my niece and nephew?" I heard someone shout. "Uncle Simon!" Olivia shouted and rand out of the dinning room. "Nephew! Oh Nephew!"

"Come," Gray said holding his hand out to me. I took it hesitantly. He led me into the hallway to a large group of people. "Nephew!" A man with graying hair said. "Hey Uncle Simon. This is Emerson. Em this was my dad's partner, Simon," Gray introduced.

"And that's his husband Manuel and their daughter Sophie," he continued. I wave shyly and yelp in surprise when Simon pulls me in for a hug.

When he releases me I shake his husbands hand and wave to their daughter who's about eleven. Grayson then points at a man who is extremely handsome even with graying hair, and a woman with a firey mass of red hair and freckles.

"And this is my other Uncle, Gavin, his wife Sam, and their two daughters Caroline and Clark." They're a perfect mixture of their parents. Both sharing blonde hair and their mothers feminine beauty.

Caroline and Clark share a look and start giggling.

"Is this your girlfriend Gray?" Clark teases. He looks at me, immediately seeing how uncomfortable I am around all his family.

Thankfully Gray's mom called everyone to dinner.

Gray grabs my hand, pulling me to the side. "I need to know you're okay with this Emerson." I smile to hide my panic. "It's okay. It's just kind of a shock but I'm not fragile Grayson."

He nods and his smile turns mischievous. "What about what happened upstairs?" My cheeks flush and a laugh escapes.

"What happened upstairs was amazing," I answer, wrapping my arms around his neck. I lean in and kiss him lightly but when I pull away it's as if someone lit a fire.

He pulls me back to him and kisses me hard. My lips part as he kisses me, allowing him access.

A pained moan escapes him and I know why. We shouldn't be doing this here, especially with his family in the other room. A startled gasp causes us to jump apart. Adrenaline sparking inside me.

I look over and see his aunt, Sam, looking at us wide eyed. "Your....um....your mom wants y'all in the dining room. Dinner is ready."

She quickly leaves and Gray bursts out laughing. I turn and slap his arm. "That's not funny. It could have been your sister or, God forbid, your mom," I whisper yell. He shrugs indifferently. Fucking shrugs!

Thankfully no one says anything as Gray and I sit down at the table.

I sit back and watch Gray interact with his family. He's so at ease. Laughing occasionally and nodding along with the conversation. A conversation that seemed to quickly turn serious.

"How's the internship going?" Gavin asks. Gray tenses and looks down at his plate.

Gray's mom goes pale. "What internship?" Carson, Gray's dad, sighs loudly, shaking his head at Gavin.

"I got an internship at the police department," Gray answers calmly. Oh shit. If I remember correctly, Mrs Andrews doesn't want him to work with the police.

"Oh," is all she says but her eyes promise an argument.

A couple hours later the Andrews house is void of extended family. "I'm gonna take Emerson home. I'll be back in a few," Gray shouts. Gray's dad pops up from the side scaring the crap out of me and nods before saying, "be safe."

Gray is holding my hand as we pull off from his house. I study his profile as he drives. He looks calm and in control, watching the road and nodding along to the music on the radio. "Why are you staring?"

I feel my cheeks flush and turn away. "No reason," I reply quietly.

He smiles, and shakes his head, his hand reaching over the center console to grab my hand. It was warm and slightly callous but I accepted the comforting gesture. "You're so gorgeous Em," He says, tightening his grip for a second. I snort and roll my eyes.

"I'm serious Emerson. You're absolutely stunning. Your personality, your long legs, those freckles...fuck I love those freckles Em," he groans at his words and the tone of our conversation quickly changed.

I turn towards him slightly and smile. "Why do you love my freckles so much?"

He chuckles and bites his lip. "You do realize how much pain you're causing me right?" I glance down at the large bulge in his pants. It may be wrong but I can't help but feel pride that I turn him on.

"Now I do."

"You are something else Em," he laughs. A few minutes later we pull up to my house.

I frown in confusion when he gets out the car and jump when my door opens. "M'lady," Gray says holding out his hand for me to grab. "Why thank you," I answer, taking his hand.

He walks with me to the front door and surveys the overly large house my dad bought. "Your dad home?"

I shrug as I pull out my keys. "I don't know, wanna come upstairs with me?" I immediately regret it as the words leave my mouth. "Not yet." I tense and turn away from him to unlock the door. "Em stop, let me finish."

I sigh and turn back to him. "What?" I snap.

His hand touches my cheek and he smiles softly. "I don't want to push you. Especially after what that asshole tried to do," he says calmly. "I'm not made of glass Grayson."

He snorts loudly, "I noticed.  But there's only so much you can take. I'm not going to push you. It's not time yet."

He presses his forehead to mine and kisses the tip of my nose. Tension once again left my body. "Okay, well goodnight," I said smiling. He kisses me again and whispers good night before walking off to his car.

I walk into the house still smiling happily.

"Who was that?" My dad asks scaring the crap out of me. "Gray. The guy who gave me a ride earlier in the year."

"I don't know how to help you Emerson.  I feel like you've changed a lot after your mom died and I don't know how to talk to you anymore," he says walking up to me.

I set my keys on the table and frown.  "What do you mean by help me? I don't need help. "

"I saw you kiss him Em. I don't want you to do anything stupid, something that could change your life."

"I already had the talk with mom before she died. And Gray isn't like that. He's told me that anything of the sexual nature isn't going to come up in the near future."

My dad grimaces at my words choice making me laugh. "I just want you safe and happy."

"I will be."
