"Howdy," I say to Em as I walk up to her locker. She jumps slightly, her hand clutching her chest, obviously caught off guard, "Jesus!"

I wrap an arm around her and kiss her temple. "Did I sca-"

"Hey Emerson!" A familiar voice shouts. I glare at George Fucking Boyd as he walks up to us. Once again his blonde hair is perfectly combed and his khakis perfectly pressed. Asshole.

"Hi. I didn't get too introduce myself, I'm George," he says holding out his hand.

"Grayson," I answer.

"Did you gather the materials for our chemistry project Em?" George Fucking Boyd asks. Em? When was he granted permission too call her that?

Em nods and pulls away from me to reach into her locker. "They were out of stick glue."

"That's okay. See you in class Em."

I glare as he walks away. Ass. Hole.

Fortunately Emerson was busy digging in her locker, unaware of my hatred. "Hey Gray," someone says, a feminine hand settling on my chest. Shit. Sara.

I'm shrugging her off as Emerson looks up.

"Can we help you Sara?" Em asks grabbing my arm and tugging me to her. Sara stares at her with pure, unfiltered hate and yanks me back over towards her. "You can't, but Gray can definitely help me with my situation."

Em, again, pulls me towards her hard and fast. I wince just as Sara pulls me towards her. "Sorry bitch but Gray doesn't want you." Yanked towards Em. "Why would Gray ever want you?" Yanked towards Sara. Back to Em. Back to Sara. And then to Em. Then to Sara. "Stop!" I shout grabbing the attention of other people in the hallway.

"Look Sara, it wasn't ever going to happen. I'm with Em now okay? So please let me the fuck go," I snap.

Sara scoffs and glaring at Em. "You'll regret this desicion Gray. When this crazy bitch doesn't want to give it up you'll come running to me."  She storms off angrily, her friends following.

"You seriously dated her?"

I nod disgusted, "yeah. Freshman year."

"Glutton for punishment much?" I sigh and shrug. "I guess but she wasn't always like this."

"If you say so," Em replies, snorting.

She grabs her books and we walk to class in silence.

"Mr. Andrews!" Someone shouts waking me three classes later. I jump and sit up, looking around the classroom frantically.

The classroom is empty and my history teacher is standing over me with her arms crossed. "What's going on?" I rasp. "Class dismissed for lunch twenty minutes ago Grayson."

"Oh, I'm uh sorry for falling asleep in your class today," I apologize, standing. She sighs and rolls her eyes.

I stand and quickly pull out my phone. Shit on a stick. Three missed calls from Emerson. I run out the classroom very dramatic like. As I'm running down the hall, out of the corner of my eye I see a familiar silhouette sitting in the courtyard at a picnic table.

I pause for a moment to admire the view.

Emerson is sitting there on her phone, she seems to be concentrating on something.

One day I'll make her realize how beautiful she is.

I realize I'm starting to look like a creep by standing here staring at her so long so I walk outside. Em looks up as if sending me approaching but she doesn't smile when she sees me. I try to stifle the little flare of panic in my chest.

"I'm so sorry, " I say as soon as I sit across from her. "Where were you?"

"I fell asleep in history and my teacher woke me up twenty minutes after class ended," I word vomit. She nods, her features relaxing at least a little bit. "What are you doing?" I ask, gesturing towards her phone.

She looks down and shakes her head before setting her phone down. "Nothing. Do you mind if I come home with you today?"

I contemplate pressing further on the subject of her phone but decide against it.

"That sounds perfect. Not a problem," I blurt. When I think of her at my house I think of getting her under me in my room again. Em smiles like she knows what I'm thinking. Of course she knows, somehow she always seems to. I reach for her hand and gently kiss it.

Em stands and walks around to my side of the table and sits next to me.

Later that day I wait outside Emerson's classroom to take her back to my house. When the bell rings everyone rushes out of the classroom except my girl.

I peak inside the class but she's nowhere to be seen. I make the decision to wait a few more minutes which quickly turns into twenty more. I'm reaching for my phone to call her when she finally rounds the corner.

"Hey," I say when when she gets closer. Her beautiful freckled face lights up and she wraps her arms around my shoulders.

"Howdy," she replies, reaching up onto her tiptoes to kiss my cheek.

"What took you so long?"

A devious smile stretches across her face and she reaches behind her before pulling out to tickets. "Do you know what these are Mr Andrews?" She waves the tickets in my face so quickly that I struggle to read them. I grab her wrist tightly and read the name on the tickets. "Hamilton? You got Hamilton tickets!? Those were sold out!" I declare.

She let's put a brilliant laugh and nods. "Yes they were but I worked my magic and got us some tickets soon-to-be birthday boy."

"You're the best!" I shout.

She laughs again before kissing my cheek, "let's go."

I wrap my arm around her shoulder as we exit the school to my car and kiss her forehead.

"I want a nerd slushy on the way to your house by the way."

I let out a loud laugh, "yes ma'am."
