You know that scene in high school musical where Troy is all sweaty and the background is all dark and he's about to give up on the game but Gabriella cheers him on? Thats how Zayna feels right now. Minus the singing, music, and the drama. She may not be a cheerleader but she's Josh's no. 1 fan. Duh, you need to support your bestfriend.
"GO JOSH!!",she yells at the top of her lungs. She didn't care if people looked at her like she was crazy.
The opposite team is one point ahead with only a couple of minutes in the clock. Josh and his team plan out their strategy with their coach. Josh looks the most nervous, he was the best of the best. He needed to win this for his team. Zayna notices this and looks at him, hoping he would look at her. Josh, feeling being watched by someone, looks up at her. She gav'e him the 'you better win this or we ain't gonna be friends anymore' look which they both know she was joking about. But it was enough to put Josh's nerves at ease. He places his fist on his chest before pointing at her. She just rolls her eyes, trying to avoid the stares she was getting. He chuckles and salutes her before heading of.
They won. Josh did it. The crowd cheered as the team lifts Josh up and cheers him on. Zayna leaves the bleachers to go and congratulate him. She made it past the other people and approaches Josh. He was talking to Joaquin, one of his team mates. Joaquin, noticing Zayna, points at her while whispering something to Josh's ear. He just laughs and excuses himself to walk towards her. Once he approaches her, he quickly lifts her up in a bone crushing hug.
"Gross, man! You're all sweaty!",she says as he puts her down.
"I take it we're still bestfriends?",he asks with his eyebrows raised. She takes out a handkerchief and wipes the sweat from her arm.
"Clean freak",he teases. She glares at him
"Lat me guess, you forgot your face towel, didn't you?",she asks and he looks at her with a guilty smile.
"You're lucky i remember, Parks", she says addressing his last name as she takes out a face towel from her bag.
"You're the best, shorty", he says and ruffles her hair.
"Hey, Josh!",a high pitched voice says.
They both turned around to see Mitch in her full cheerleader outfit.
"Oh hey, Mitch", Josh says.
"Congratulations on the win!",she says, her voice making Zayna cover her ears.
"Uh thanks...", he smiles at her. Zayna just stares at him. Oh you poor clueless child.
"We're having a party tonight at my place in celebration for the win! You can even invite your...friend", she says as she looks at her. She was about slap this bitch in the face but Josh was a step a head and stopped her just in time.
"We'll be there", he says. She smiles at him and turns around, her ponytail whipping from left to right. Zayna didn't miss the glare she received before she left.
"You cant seriously be considering going to that?",she says to Josh once Mitch was out of sight.
"Oh c'mon its for winning the game",he says.
"Fine, well goodluck with that. I'm going home",she says and starts walking away but Josh grabs her shoulders and spins her back around.
"Oh no, shorty. You're coming with me to this party",he says. Zayna violently shakes her head.
"Oh no no no no no",she tries to say but Josh wouldn't have it.
"I'm picking you up later and you better be dressed to party or else i am dragging you there whether you're wearing pajamas or a bathing suit", he says.
