Caged Bird Who Sings (ll)
By: MeEveryone waited for a song
A song to heal pain
A song to spread hope
But as they waited, the song never cameThe guards went to see a lifeless body
Laying down in a cage
With a smile on face
And a hand on his heartNo one understood why he had a smile on his face
No one understood how he lost hope
After years of believing that he would be free
How he gave up so suddenlyAnd as the diamonds shone in the sky
And the tears still dripping from his mother's eye
And the prisoners losing hope
They heard a songThe song that was once sung by a boy
Now being sung by another
And as they heard those words that was uttered from his lips
Everyone understoodThe mother closed her eyes with a smile upon her lips
The prisoners held onto another ray of hope
The guards threw down their sticks
As they all listenedFor now they finally understood why he died with a smile
As he knew his purpose was fulfilled and he had spread hope
For he knew if he did not sing the song someone will
Now they understood why the caged bird sings
