I sit on my bed, fingering the envelope I had received yesterday. Elf, my dog, barks loudly as he leaps onto my bed. He seemingly grins, wagging his tail.

Leaning over, I grab a baseball I was gifted at Christmas.

I chuck it across the room, Elf following the ball in quick movements. He bounds off my bed to chase after the over used ball.

I laugh quietly to myself. I struggle to bring the events of yesterday up. "He never said when I could open it," I whisper as Elf comes running back with the ball.

Slobber pooled around the ball, dropping onto the blanket.

"Gross Elf," I mutter, a smile stretching across my lips as I take the ball from his mouth. With swift movements, I swing my arm and release my grin on the baseball.

It flies across my room and into the hallway this time.

Elf bolts after the ball, leaving me in silence.

My finger slips open the envelope unconsciously as it unfolds itself. The paper inside it is a light yellow with hand-painted daises. Adam must be a really good artist or he got someone to do it. Either way, it was an adorable small detail.

I unfold the piece of paper in an eagerness. It opens to just what Adam had said: instructions.

The first one had said:

1. Wait until Saturday.

Great. I had to wait a whole day until I could continue.

I groan loudly as I push the piece of paper into the drawer beside my bed.

It was time I get ready for work and see him.

☁︎

I serve the third customer in counting as I continuously watch the windows. He hasn't walked through those doors all morning. My mind clouds with scenarios as to what might've happened to him.

Did he get in a car crash? I start to sweat vigorously as my heart races. Please don't let that be the situation.

But maybe there's just morning traffic. But when is there ever traffic here?

I groan openly as I bend my head down onto the counter.

Suddenly, the bell by the door chimes, signaling the entrance of a customer.

My head rockets upwards, only to be greeted by the girls I had seen when I first talked to Adam.

"Caramel frappes for both of us please," one girl says as the other scowls my way.

I nod, having no choice but to serve them.

I finish as I serve them their drinks, both girls nodding in thanks.

They were nice, but still had that bratty attitude that I despised from any human being. I stand back at the counter, thinking of more situations that Adam might be in.

Maybe he's just waiting off until tomorrow. On my day off. Maybe that's why he asked what my favourite place was..!

I awe silently at his creative ways of getting me to him.

I smile warmly as several customers pour into the store. End of the school year, I see.

I laugh to myself as I ask the seemingly oldest one what the group would like. She lists off the multitude of drinks, provided we still have them.

Ashley pops her head out beside me, and I can tell her eyes were widening.

"I'm gonna need some assistance," I murmur to her as she quickly nods, taking down the next group's orders.

I laugh at her jerky movements, her hands quickly taking down the thousands of orders demanded.

I, surprisingly, have the best memory for coffee orders. Thus, I don't need pen and paper to take down the several caffeinated drinks that Daisy & Co. had in stock.

☁︎

I dig my head into my pillows, letting the cool texture calm down my skin.

Today was one of the busiest days I'd had in a long time.

My heart rate kicks back in as I realize I get to finish the rest of the instructions when I wake up. I smile as Elf curls his body against mine.
