My eyes flutter open and I look around. The bright light blinding me but I keep my eyes open so they can adjust to the new lighting. I sit up carefully, groaning in pain and I realize that I'm in my school office, laying on one of the beds they have. The attendant comes up to me with a gentle smile, holding a cup of water and a bottle of pain killers.
"This should help with the pain."
She hands me the bottle and the water as she says "take this once in the morning and once at night, only take at most 2 pills now you should be fine, you may head to 3rd hour now"
'Damn.... I was unconscious that long?' I mutter to myself before nodding in thanks to the attendant and walking to Math. One of the few classes I have with Lucas.
I shyly walk into the room and look at the teacher and hand her the note from the office for being late. I glance back seeing Lucas watching me and I hastily look away, not wanting to start crying or having any more embarrassing type of reactions towards him.
"You can go sit in between Lucas and Ashton, Cassandra."
I flinch at Lucas's name but slowly trudge toward the seat and sit down ignoring everyone's gaze. I pull out my sketch book as we weren't really doing anything and start to draw. Thanks fully Lucas didn't try and pull anything but he seemed to have kept on glancing at me and glaring at Ashton over me. Rest of the day was uneventful until 6th hour when i walked into the class. I saw my once best friend who moved away. We smiled and hugged for a long while.
"CASSIE!" "TANYA!" We screamed at once and I smiled after clinging to her. Finally.... I had someone now... who I knew wouldn't do anything to me. Wouldn't hurt me at all. We sit next to each other in the class and giggle and talk the whole time until I see Ashton walk in the room and our eyes meet. I bite my lip and look away, blushing. Him seeming to have started to blush as well as he sat next to me and turned to me
"U-Uhm Hi Cassandra!" He stutters and bites his lip
I turn to him and smile "Hi Ashton" after an awkward pause he turns to face me all the way now and takes my hand softly.
"I'm sorry about Lucas..."
"I'm sorry about Amber" I say with as much sympathy as I could muster at her name. It was a weak attempt.
He smirks and chuckles "no you're not, I know you despise her."
I laugh and nod "you can do SOO much better!"
He raises an eyebrow "oh really, have any ideas who?" Ashton smirks cockily
"Noooo that's for you to find out..." I say softly
He mutter under his breathe but I hear him "I already do" but he quickly looks at me and smiles "I guess it will be"
Soon, after Ashton's conversation with me, class starts and Mr. Sanders walks in "now I know it's the first week so I'm just going to put you up on a project on the book you had to read. You will have the next month to finish as you have to give a presentation and a different more creative form of a way to interpret the book." He starts to mutter off pairs. Tanya sadly didn't get paired with me and was paired with a nice girl named Brittany. I stop listening after a while until I hear my name.
"And finally, Ashton and Cassandra."
Me and Ashton glance at each other and blush after we meet eyes.
"So you want to work at your place or mine?" He says sheepishly while rubbing his neck
"Mine is fine, we could meet after school tomorrow and talk about it if you want!"
"Sure, Love I'll see you there." He smile "by the way, I'll pick you up for school tomorrow, that way you can just show me to your house when I take you home."
I blush and nod after I grab his hand and write my number on it boldly with sharpie "just text me later and we can talk about it."
Soon everyone can go home and I start the walk home. Once I do get home, I smile and start to make something to eat when I get a text.

I don't respond and smile softly as I do my homework and make some pizza and watch Netflix the rest of the night. Soon falling asleep.. for once with out trouble.
