When I woke up in the morning, I got ready as usual and walked to school. I met my boyfriend, Hiraku, halfway as always. His big smile cheered me right up. I wasn't going to tell anyone about my cancer until signs started showing. Their worry was the last thing i needed. Outside of my school, Obata high, Hiraku and I met up with our volleyball friends Tooru and Hina. We all walked laughing and talking into school, Hina with her short blond hair bouncing, and Tooru with his normal swagger walk. I looked at this normal image in a new light. I didn't realize I had stopped until Hiraku glanced back worriedly and called,
"Tatsu, are you coming?"
"Oh, yeah sorry I got distracted," I replied running to catch up.
We had a game a game after classes, so we went to our respective locker and warm up rooms, unaware of the life changing event about to take place.
