My friends and I spent the next month's looking for a doctor that would treat me. There weren't many in my small Japanese town because of how secluded it was. There were hardly any doctors in general, so when many of them said they wouldn't even try to treat me, we got scared. Eventually we found a man by the name of Dr. Sayo. He was a cancer specialist and had saved many people before. Most people only came to him as a last resort, however, because he lived and worked hours outside of the city. He gave me a medication that helped with the pain and stopped the seizures. I was surprised at how well it worked. I was able to play volleyball again, even if it was only for short periods at a time. The rest of the year passed the same way. My parents were, of course, opposed to the idea, but quickly changed opinions when Hiraku and Tooru's parents all decided to help pay for it. Mom was always a sucker for saving money. I lived relatively well for all that time. It had been a surprisingly good year.
