It was the last period of the day. AP English. It was a group assignment, unfortunately I was paired up with Joshua Mack. For one he was talking my head off, not about work. Two he was wearing those ratchet dirty gold teeth smiling at me. Three he was bugging me about going to the house party this weekend.
I looked at him with my stank face. He was hella annoying. I rushed through the work and out the class when the bell rung.
I am Teyanna Garcia, but everybody know me as Yanna. 17 y/o born and raise in Ingle Wood California. To my Dominican dad, and gorgeous African American mother.
I'm hella chilled and a bit different. That's all for now.
"TEYANNNNNNNA!" I did a slow turn already knowing who loud ghetto voice it was calling my name in the middle of the hall way.
"Kira do you really have be extra?" She gave me here famous smile
"Yup. Anyways you ready to go?" She said just a loud. I laugh linking my arms with hers and together we walked out the building.
Me and Charmaine Kira Black, have been friends for as long as I could remember. Her mother am mines were sororities sister in college and are still best friends to this day. So it's only right that me and Kira be click tight.
Some people question why I associate with someone who is loud, violent, semi gullable, yet smart, talented and one of the most caring person I know. People do not understand. To know Kira is to love Kira. If you don't know her who are you to judge her? She is very unique and free spirited. She is my funny bone. Always making the best out of the worst. Most importantly she is alway there when I need her.
Walking down the street almost home. I ignored the guys dog calling at me. Kira on the other hand was like a kid in a candy store. She was on the prow. I coukdny for the life of me figure out what she saw in these guys at our school.
They made it perfectly clear that what they wanted was temporary and momentary. Nothing life long. Period! But hey it's her life.
" Kira what's up with your girl?" A guy name Joey said. Like I wasn't right there :/
"Damn Joey! You acting like you can't ask her yourself!" Kira snapped throwing her long dukey braids over her shoulder. I laughed, as he smacked his lips
"So Yanna, you have plans this weekend!" He was nervous it was cute. But not cute enough
"Yea, Kira and I are going to Sasha party. She is my date" I laughed I watched he trying her best not to laugh
"Too bad you would have defiantly made me loom good." He winked.
There it was, I was officially turned off. Guys and there egos.
"Yep you blew it" Kira said pushing him and pulling me along." Sooo were going to the party?" She beamed.
"Uh no, I was only saying tht so Joey would ask me out". I began to walk up the walk yo my house before Kira cleared her throat. " what Charmaine!" I ask annoyed
"We are going so be ready at 7and your wearing something cute and I don't wanna he's it now bye!" She said in one breath running away.
"Kira!" I called after her he laughed loudly disappearing around the comer.
Feeling defeated i unlocks my door and walked in. My dog China ran up in my arms.
"Hey mama" I cooed she was the cutest. " mommie!....papi!" I yelled no answer. I walked in the kitchen to a note on the board.
Yanna your dad and I are away to San Fransico we will be back in the morning. I already arrange for you to stay at Melonie house. Yes you can do I the party with Char. Behave be a lady and I'll see you tomorrow. Love mommie and papi.
I tossed the letter aside and headed to my room with china on my heels. It wa the weekend and I had no homework so i decide to just lounge around.
