Song: Love on the brain by Rihanna

Tuesday morning met Demi with a summons on her desk to meet with Mr. Ronin, her manager.
She bit into her lower lip nervously, mentally checking to see if she had any outstanding jobs she had forgotten to turn in.

She gave a brief knock, before entering his office.

Looking up from a sheaf of papers, he smiled, 'Ah, Ms white, please.' He gestured across his table to a chair.

She sat and watched as he spent the next several seconds signing what appeared to be various documents before closing the navy binder within which they were contained.

He looked up at her, 'As you know Demi Rose, you have been under review for several months now, with regards to my recommendation to the partners that you be considered as my replacement, in the position of audit manager.'

She nodded, her heart pounding furiously.

'Well, the partners met yesterday for a decision and...' he smiled, '...they decided, based on your performance, feedback from several clients and your billable hours, that you would be the best candidate for the job.'

She stared at him, stunned.

'Really?' she asked.

'Yes Demi Rose.' He beamed. 'Congratulations.'

'T-thank you Sir.'

He nodded. 'It will be my pleasure to have you as my understudy for the next couple of months, but, right now your attention is needed in New York.'

She frowned, confused. 'At Phoenix holdings?'

He nodded. 'Mr Taylor has informed us that he needs you there for an urgent staff meeting, so, wrap up whatever you were going to work on and head to Fontainebleau,' he said, referring to one of Miami's private airports. 'He says he'll have his private plane waiting to pick you up at 2pm.'
Shuffling papers about on his desk, he muttered to himself, 'apparently, that's how the one percent get around when they're in a hurry.'

Jax sat, hand on chin, listening to the two federal agents before him.

He had just been informed that his former Chief Accountant was now in custody.
They had located the bastard at the airport operating under a false identity and about to board a flight to the UAE with which the US had no extradition treaty, and had obtained his confession.

As they rambled on about the likely sentence the man was facing, his mind wandered to the plans he had made for that afternoon.

He had spent the night tossing and turning on his large bed which had felt empty without Demi. His heart thumping furiously when he realized how close he had come to losing her to another man.
Delphine was right. He did have feelings for her. He had no idea when he had begun developing these feelings, but what he did know was that he couldn't bear the thought of her with another man. And that wasn't going to happen, ever again, if he had anything to say about it.

He wrapped up the meeting, relieved that the mess with his former staff was over, and was just seeing the agents out of his office when he saw Demi approaching.

She slowed her pace, when she caught sight of the federal officers walking out, before continuing past them.

He flashed her a brilliant smile as she came in the door.

Turning back to the retreating officers with a frown, she asked, 'What's going on?'

'Hmmn?' he pulled her into his office and shut the door behind them, wrapping his arms around her, and planting a kiss on her lips.
