Round One
I GIGGLED AS I watched Kyle stumble over his own feet.
"I've got to go." I said through laughs. He frowned and pointed to the window.
"But its raining." He objected. And it was. It was pouring outside. I usually walked home and a little rain wasn't going to change that. I liked the rain anyways. I shrugged.
"Let me take you home." Kyle was one of my best friends. We both worked at the pizza shop together. I've known him for as long as I can remember.
"No, Kyle. I'm walking home. I'll be fine." I declined, shrugging on my coat. "I promise."
He let out an exasperated sigh before hopping off the stool and strolling over to me. His large body towered over mine, his hands cupping my smaller ones into his, squeezing them gently. His hands held mine as I felt his thumb brushing warmly over my knuckles.
"Please?" He whispered.
I couldn't help but smile at how completely adorable he was. His bottom lip was jotted out, his blue eyes burning straight through mine. A tiny strand of his hair fell into his face and I carefully pushed it back. "Besides, its cold out and I don't want my baby getting sick." He added.
I smiled more, gently prying my fingers away from his.
"Another time." I said, pulling away completely. I pressed a quick kiss to his cheek, pushing against the front doors.
"Goodnight, Ky."
I was planning on walking to Haylie's place, considering she wouldn't mind me crashing there for the night. She lives about three blocks down from where I live and another three from the pizza shop. It wasn't far, but I could tell it was going to take at least twenty minutes to get there on foot.
It was dark outside, the only thing illuminating the streets were the dimly lit lamps. Crickets were still chirping and the little rain was still coming. It was a peaceful night until I heard a strange sound.
I heard heavy footsteps behind. I turned around to see what it was, but nothing was there. I was just being paranoid. I kept walking, still looking around to see if something was there, but still I saw nothing. I was a block away from the apartments when I heard footsteps behind me again. My heart was racing rapidly as I walked at a faster pace. The footsteps got even louder and I was full on running.
I could see Haylie's apartment in the distance which made me feel a lot more safer. Until large hands grabbed at my waist and threw me over their shoulder.
I let out a piercing scream as they started walking the other direction. I was kicking, screaming, begging the person to leave me alone.
"Let me go!" I screamed, tears blurring my vision. They came to an abrupt stop, my cries for help not ceasing down one bit.
I heard a car door unlock and I immediately took the chance to jolt the person in the groin. My body instantly met with the cold, wet pavement as I clutched the top of my head. It was throbbing erratically as I felt the cold liquid expanding on my fingers. I shakily withdrew my hand and sat there on the ground, trying to make out some of the features of this monstrous person. Not wanting to waste anymore of my time, I jumped to my feet and ran in the other direction I came in.
The footsteps were heard loud and conspicuous again, avid as hell to get to Haylie's. Once I've reached her doorstep, my fist came colliding down with the front door, more tears brimming in my eyes.
"Haylie!" I screamed. I could feel my lungs broiling, making it somewhat hard for me to breathe.
I turned my head cautiously to see if I were still being chased, but to my luck I wasn't. A tall, dark figure stood not too far away from the radiant light, making me want to step forward to get a better view.
