"Mikey! Go change into your fucking suit!"
"Ow!" Mikey says, covering his ears. "You didn't have to yell," he grumbles to Gerard, who rolls his eyes.
"You're getting married in less than an hour. I kind of have to."
"And it's a real wedding this time," Mikey says, a small smile on his face, "so it's a bit more stressful this time."
"Just a bit," Patrick concludes, handing Mikey his suit. "Now go. Everyone's waiting."
An elaborate, crowded wedding is something that neither Pete nor Mikey wanted, so they concluded that a private, small wedding shared only be the two (and their witnesses) would be the best option.
Mikey walks into the bathroom, dropping the suit to the ground and pulling out his phone. He pulls up Pete's contact and presses the call button. It rings a few times, but Pete answers quickly.
"You ready?" Pete asks. Mikey walks to the window and opens it, then looks down. Below him stands Pete, positioning a ladder at the windowsill.
"Yeah. Make sure it's steady."
"Will do, Rapunzel." Pete holds the ladder tightly and helps Mikey down, letting it fall over onto its side after Mikey jumps to the ground.
"Let's go get married."
Gerard and Patrick walk out the front door and meet Mikey and Pete.
Pete takes Mikey's hand. And in jeans and two-day-old tee shirts, they, along with Gerard and Patrick, walk all the way to the courthouse, their identification and records heavy in their arms.
"Are you sure you want this?" Pete asks before he picks up the pen. Mikey puts a hand on his arm and squeezes it lightly.
"I do."
Pete laughs and signs his name beside Mikey's.
The ceremony is long and takes about half an hour to complete, but the entire time, Pete and Mikey stare at each other instead of the judge, which makes the time pass quickly.
"Repeat after me," the judge says, smiling slightly at Pete.
"I, Peter Lewis Kingston Wentz III, take you, Michel James Way, to be no other than yourself. Loving what I know of you, trusting what I do not yet know, I will respect your integrity and have faith in your abiding love for me, through all our years, and in all that life may bring us."
"Now you, Michael. Repeat after me."
"I, Michael James Way, take you, Peter Lewis Kingston Wentz III, as my husband, with your faults and your strengths, as I offer myself to you with my faults and my strengths. I will help you when you need help and turn to you when I need help. I choose you as the person with whom I will spend my life."
"I now pronounce you man and man. You may now kiss!"
And Mikey leans forward, kissing Pete with passion even greater than what they had at the office. It's everything he's ever wanted all in one single kiss. It's a promise; a promise to be faithful and to love for as long as they're alive. It's love. It represents everything they went through and all the times they were confused.
And all Mikey wants to do is stand there, his hands on Pete's hips, and bask in Gerard and Patrick's violent applause as he kisses Pete with an intensity that could only ever be matched by Pete.
oh my god this book just ended and i have no idea what i'm going to do for the rest of my life
no seriously my baby grew up and im too emotionally attached to this to start another fic im sad
anyways, i want to thank everyone who read this book. not just the people who stuck with this from it's bad beginning, but also those who started reading whenever it was halfway through and i had the world's worst writer's block. and i'm also going to give a very warm thank you to the people who read this after it was finished.
i started this book in december of 2016 and thought it was going to be an easy fic that i would finish writing in three months, tops. now, it's june 2017, and i'm very proud of the fact that it didn't take three months to write this, because if it had taken that long, this would be a very, very shitty fic.
thank you so much for reading! i love you all to the moon and back!
