Jon's POV
I walked down the rainy streets of Paris with one hand in my pocket and the other holding a black umbrella. I passed by Berthillion and decided to get a treat. I closed my umbrella as I walked in, also noticing that the room was nearly empty, for only three people were in there. "Bonjour! How can I help you?" The owner greeted with a big smile.
"One chocolate ice cream please."
"Alright! Anything else for you today?"
As he said that I noticed in the corner of my eye a girl rummaging through her bag. I turned to get a better view. She was mumbling words such as: "I'm so stupid" "how could I forget it" "I swear I had my money"
I turned back around and added,"Actually I'll have two of those."
After I paid I walked over to the girl. "I noticed you didn't have your money so I bought you an ice cream cone," I said and I handed her the ice cream.
"Thank you so much," she replied,"But you didn't have to do that."
"But I wanted to, so I did," I said with a smile as I sat down next to her, "Want to talk a walk outside?"
"Um sure but I don't have an umbrella."
"No worries," I said as I showed her my umbrella.
As we were walking outside eating our ice cream I said, "I'm Jon. What's your name?"
"Dorothy but you can call me Dodie."
I smiled and she smiled back. I looked at her outfit. She was wearing pastel yellow suspenders with a black and white striped shirt. "I like your outfit."
"Thanks." She looked down and blushed. My phone vibrated in my pocket.
"Hold on."
I held up my phone. "Hello?" It was my friend Thomas.
"Hey so when are you coming back to the apartment? I just got a nice movie that we can watch."
"I'll be back in ten minutes."
"Alright see ya then. Bye."
"Bye."
I hung up and put my phone back in my pocket. I turned to Dodie. "I need to get back to my apartment. Can I get your phone number?"
"Sure." I got out my phone again and she told me her phone number.
"See you again sometime?" I asked.
"Hopefully," she replied.
I called for a taxi and I watched her figure grow smaller and smaller as we drove to my apartment.
• • • "Hey man! Where've you been?" Thomas asked as I walked through the doorway.
"I went to the ice cream shop," I responded, "I met a girl there."
"Hm I smell something," Thomas said while sniffing the air, "oo it's a sweet fragrance. I think the scent is romance?" he looked over at me with a grin as he said that.
I nudged him in the arm. "Definitely not. We're just friends."
"Just wait. You'll guys love each other someday. I've gotten better at my predicting the future skills."
"Really?"
"No. But I'm really sure about this. Just wait."
"Whatever." I rolled my eyes. "I'm going to bed."
"Goodnight," Thomas squinted his eyes, "just wait."
"You'll never find love you know that right," I shouted as I started walking across the room.
"Yeah that's why I predict people's love life," Thomas yelled as I walked into my room.

The next morning I heard buzzing and I rubbed my eyes and smiled. "Is dodie calling?" I thought to myself. I eagerly picked up the phone but my emotions were immediately changed as I found out it was only my mother.
"Hi mom."
"Oh hello sweetie!!" I haven't talked to her in a couple weeks, and I missed her, but I definitely did not miss her loud voice.
"So how's Arizona?"
"Oh it's absolutely wonderful!! I miss you so much!!!"
That hurt my ears.
"Well uh, I have to go meet Thomas at a café so talk to you later. Love you. Bye," I said as I hung up. I know, I'm a little harass to my mother but she just rambles on and on about her life when she calls and manages to yell while doing so.
I set my phone down on the desk and started picking out my clothes for the day. My phone rang again. "Oh no my mom is mad at me," I thought to myself.
I walked over to see that it was not my mom, but dodie.
"Hello?"
"Hey Jon."
"Hey, what's up?"
"oh nothing much. Just thought I'd call you."
"Wanna get some coffee together later?"
"Like...a date?"
"Of course not hahaha."
"Oh. Okay," she replied with some disappointment in her voice. Was she upset that it wasn't a date?
"Well I'm meet you at the coffee shop on the corner at 10:00."
"See you soon."

I waited about 10 lagging minutes at a small glass table until finally my feelings lifted as I saw dodie approach the door. She strolled in wearing a light blue dress with dark brown doc martens. She looked really cute. Oh shoot, I might have a crush on her. No no no, I can't let Thomas be right.
My thoughts shattered as dodie sat down across from me. We both sipped our coffee in silence until finally I decided to say something.
"So how has your day been?" I asked.
"Fine."
"Uh, great." She seemed upset. I couldn't figure out why though.
After we both finished our coffee I asked if she wanted to take a walk outside.
As we were walking, I noticed a bruise on her face.
"Where did that bruise come from?"
"Oh nothing. I just fell."
"Oh okay. im sorry."
"It's fine. You don't have to apologize."
Time passed and soon she said "I think I should go home now."
"Oh okay. Well, I'll call you," I responded.
"Great." she smiled. I smiled back.

I got back to the apartment and found Thomas watching star wars. "another star wars marathon im guessing?"
He looked at me and grinned. "You know it."
I made myself some tea and sat down on the couch beside him.
"So how was your date?" he asked.
"It wasn't a date. We hung out and it was nice."
"Whatever you say," he said as he looked back at the TV.
We watched Star Wars until I looked at my watch and it flashed 8:30.
"I think I'll go to bed."
"Really? This early?" Thomas questioned.
"What do you have a problem with that."
"Not one because now you won't steal my popcorn."
"Wow."

I laid down my bed and folded my arms. I kept thinking about dodie. I've met lots of girls in my life but dodie was just different than everyone else. I don't know what is was, but just something about her made me like her a lot. Except she seemed down today and I couldn't figure out why. I slept bad that night.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
