Third person POV:
Out of tiredness she finally closed her eyes.
He slowly examined her, find everything he missed when he first came to know her.
The tired in her eyes, the sharp curves of her jaw, the slight dent below her cheekbones, the timid scar by her left eye.
Her innocence that has been long lost slowly returned to her features when she slept.
She was vulnerable, and although that is how Ethan always liked whom he was looking at to be, with her it with slightly different.
He wanted her vulnerable in front of him on her own accord, not simply because she fell asleep.
She finally let him see a small portion of her true self, was finally vulnerable to him by choice, and all he did was show her what she did was wrong.
To trust someone other than herself.
He lifted his head and stared at the ceiling.
How do you fix a situation like this? How do you make up breaking the one person that's supposed to save you.
He climbed out of the water.
Grabbing a towel, he walked toward his own sleeping beauty and lifted her carefully.
After wrapping her in the towel he walked into the room.
She stirred but continued to keep her eyes close, pretending to he asleep.
He laid her onto the bed and walked to the closet. After grabbing a pair of underwear and placing it on her, he slipped her into one of his t-shirts.
He undid the left side of the bed which he knew was her favorite, and he gently placed her down.
Next he turned off the light and crawled into bed beside her slowly.
He pulled her into him.
He smelt her freshly washed hair and held her while he knew he still could.
"I'm sorry." He whispered.
She heard him. She felt her heart break at both the crack in his voice, and the pain she was attempting to ignore.
But for some reason his words, his actions couldn't make her feel happier.
There was hope.
