I skimmed through books, muttering their titles under my breath. I was actually starting to wonder how these monsters spoke English. Surely, they would have their own language? They must have been down here for ages...yet they speak like everyone on the surface. I picked out a soothing green book with two golden stripes and golden writing for the title.

"Monster history"

I hummed in interest and opened to a book marked page.

"After the long war, humans were victorious. They forced us underground and sealed the exit with a barrier, which can only be broken with a human SOUL,"

I was going to keep reading, but heard the whooshing sound again and I looked up and saw a weird creature floating in front of me. I wanted to yelp, but since it was a library I stayed silent. I couldn't tell what the creature was, and even though they lacked a mouth they began to speak in a echo-y and smooth kind of voice. Like some one who was trying to casually seduce you. His voice made me shiver.

   "Are you her?"

"Well, I mean I am a her but-"

"Yes. You are the one from above." With these words, some of the ladies in the librarby turned and looked at me with a confused expression, but then they simply smiled and went back to doing nothing.

"Who...Are you?" I ask, weirded out.

"I am Aegelweard, the seeing. I was sent to help."

At this point, I was thoroughly confused. "Help? Help me with what?"

   "You do not know?"

   "No...?"

   "Ah. I suppose Louri didn't tell you. I guess I won't either."

"Oh! You know Louri! Are you the friend she was looking for?"

"Yes. We all know each other, and I suppose we are all friends. Louri is quite the exaggerator though, so you must learn to size down a few things she may say."

"O...K...Anything else I should know? Is there an actual reason why you're here."

He gave what must have been a laugh, but it sounded strange and distorted. "I'm here for a book of course. I simply waited for you to be here before I entered."

I nodded. This guy was strange but I kinda liked him. Not like he was making much sense though. "Well, I actually just came in here for a look so..."

"Ah yes. Are you interested in that history book?"

I smiled and nodded my head slightly once more. "I'm able to check it out, right?"

"Of course, you can at that desk over there. By the way, as I said, I am the seeing. So, if you ever need to know anything, I'll be at your service." He made a bowing gesture.

I turned and looked at the desk his eyes had went to. "Thanks," I said. I turned back, but he had disappeared. I frowned, rusting my wings a little. "Huh."

I checked out the book and walked outside back into the snow, and observed the cover. I ran my fingers over the smooth golden lines and they seemed the glisten against the pale white of the white winter that crunched underneath my feet. I got to thinking as I walked to the center of Snowdin.

This book said the...this barrier could be broken with a human SOUL. Am I a human? I mean, I know I am one, but my wings... Could I be keeping everyone down here? Can I set them free if I gave up my SOUL? How would I do that anyway? Would it hurt...?

So many questions and not enough answers. I know I could ask aegel-whats-his-face but I think I need to figure this part out on my own. I sat down on the edge of a marble fountain, and listened to the running water behind me.

Kinda funny how the water is running in this frozen weather...

I unfolded my wings and dipped the end feathers into the water and shivered as I felt the freezing water brush over them. It still felt nice though. I started to close my eyes, not to sleep, but just to relax. I stayed that way, and didn't move for hours.

I stood up, shaking off my wet feathers. I cringed slightly as my book fell off my lap and page-open into the snow. "Aw crap," I muttered and picked it up. I made sure the page didn't crinkle up and I brushed off as much snow as I could. I worried that I missed some snow and later it would melt. I looked around and saw that few monsters remained outside, since it was getting late. All the buildings, except the INN and Grillbys had closed for the night. I heard footsteps coming nearer and I guessed it was someone on their way home, but I yelped as they rested a hand on my shoulder. I turned and saw that it was Sans, and I calmed down slightly. "Oh, it's just you."

"Yeah, just me," Sans said calmly, that fake smile of his still stuck on his face. "What are you still doing out here kid? 's late."

"I'm not a kid. I can stay out as long as I'd like."

"They way you're always talking back I wouldn't be able to tell." He retorted. His pinpricks traveled down to my book. "What do you have there?"

"A book."

Sans sighed. "Whats it about?"

"History. I haven't read lots of it yet. Or any of it."

"Hm. Well, lets just get back to my house."

He walked ahead a few steps, and then looked at me. "You comin' or are you sleeping in the snow tonigh-"

I jogged up rolling my eyes. "I'm coming I'm coming."

I walked by him for a short time before getting an idea. "Wanna race?"

"It's not really my thing."

"Whoever loses has to buy the other person a free meal!"

"You're on!"

With that, I took off and in almost no time I was standing on Sans's front porch. He was already there!

"Wait, what...?"

"Hey, I'll enjoy a free Grillbys tomorrow. Nice try, kid." He chuckled with a smirk and turned the knob to the front door and walked inside. I laughed a bit and walked inside after him, closing the door. I went and got settled again on the couch after Sans went upstairs to tuck Papyrus in. I laid on my side and stared at my book, wanting to read it but feeling to tired. I stared at it until I feel into a soft, wonderful land of dreams...
