(The Camp)

Skylar's POV.

As Unity Day begins and Jaha gives his yearly speech of how important being sent to space to survive is, and I watch with the other camp members as he appears on a the radio screen.

"My friends, this is a historic Unity Day. Every year, we mark the moment our ancestors of the twelve stations joined to form the Ark, but this is the last time we do so while aboard her. Next year, on the ground..." Jaha explains.

"Right. After we did all the work. Someone shut him up." Miller says from the distance.

"You shut up, Miller. No one's forcing you to watch." I tell him, even though I'm not a big fan of it.

"For ninety-seven years, we have eked out an existence, hoping that someday our descendants would return to Earth..." Jaha continues.

"Don't tell me you don't like Unity Day." I hear Clarke say to Finn who are both along with Raven are a few feet away from me as I drink some of Jasper's and Monty's moonshine.

"Unity Day is a lie. The Ark only came together after the thirteenth station was blown out of the sky. Just not the version of history we like to tell each other at parties." Finn remarks.

"The Unity Day story gives people hope, though, and peace came out of that violence." Clarke tells him.

"Yeah, but did there need to be violence at all?" Finn asks her.

"Whoo! Yeah! Monty strikes again! Hey! Call this batch Unity Juice! Who's thirsty? Monty! There you go." Jasper says as he passes the moonshine to people, but I just stick to the one I already have.

"Hey. Save me some." Monty tells people who are chugging most of it down.

"Happy Unity Day. Pass it around." Jasper encourages people to celebrate.

"To our sons and daughters on Earth listening to this message, we will see you soon. The first Exodus ship will launch in under sixty hours, carrying you the reinforcements that you need, so stay strong. Help is on the way." Jaha assures us before the radio powers down and shuts off.

"Well, I'm guessing that means we can do what we want." I say to a few people, and everyone begins to cheer as they all start to celebrate. I then begin to head to my tent.

"Where are you going?" I hear Finn ask me, and I look over my shoulder.

"To do what I've wanted since I got to earth, have a peaceful sleep knowing my dad's safe." I tell him, and continue to go inside my tent and close the drape.

I then drink the rest of my moonshine and throw the cup on ground before sitting cross-legged on my make-shift bed. I take the necklace from around my neck and wrap it around one of my hands before looking down at the marble that looks like space.

Even though everyone celebrates Unity day for the day that the all the Ark stations came together as one, I celebrate it as an anniversary of my mom's death.

My mom died when I was three, a few months after I was born the doctors on the Ark found a tumour growing in her brain that wasn't treatable, and this necklace is what she gave me a few days before she died. She told me that it was for the day we all go to the ground, and it was so that I wouldn't forget where I came from. It's the only real thing I remember of her.

"Let's take a walk." Finn suddenly pulls back the drape of my tent with Clarke by his side, and I quickly wipe away my tears "What's wrong?" He asks me, but I shake my head as I stand up and put my necklace around my neck.
