Recap on the previous chapter (The Principal's Office): The major project for the class is to come up with a creature that can survive through any challenges it face. Ivory gets inspired to make her creature fly. She asked the teacher for instructions of what to do next while sketching on her paper and it turns out the person in front of her wasn't Mr. Bolider, but it was Luke. He stared at her and walked back to his seat. She confronted him, and when the teacher came back it looked as if something bad happened. He sends them to the principle's office, and they both get punishments. She soon realizes that shes going to have to spend four hours in detention with Luke in an empty classroom.
Chapter 3 Detention:
I glanced at my watch. “Okay, it’s 5PM. Hold yourself together. It’s just four hours…with Luke…just the two of us. Don't worry, you got this Ivory,” I quietly told myself. I chose a seat beside him, bad mistake. The moment I sat down and finished checking my watch, I felt him staring at me. “So I see we both have the same punishment, four hours of detention. I don't know why Principal Pollack told us each separately our punishments if they were going to be the same,” said Luke. As I was about to reply, but Principal Pollack walked into the room. “Ah. I see you two made it on time. Welcome to detention. I have to head out, so after its been four hours you two may leave. I trust that Ivory will make sure no one leaves the room. I hope you two are going to learn your mistakes while you guys are here. Goodbye,” said Principal Pollack. As Principle Pollack left my room I realized she held me responsible of no one leaving the room.
Luke stared at me and spoke, “Of course she’s leaving you in charge so that no one, as in me, would leave the room.” “Hey, I didn't ask for her to leave me in charge. You're acting as if I’m not rebellious,” I blurted. I shouldn't have said that, because as soon as it left my mouth Luke replied, “If you're so rebellious, you'd leave this room and skip detention right now.” “I would…..but…” I murmured while thinking of a good reason why I couldn’t. “Haha, I knew you wouldn't do it,” exclaimed Luke. I responded calmly, “As I was saying, I would but…I don't have…a car.” Luke bursted out laughing and said, “If you don't have a car, how do you get to school everyday?” “Bus,” I muttered. “I can take care of that problem. Are you going to ditch detection with me or not?” smirked Luke. “Sure…only to prove to you I’m rebellious.” I announced confidently. What am I doing? I never skipped anything once in my life. I’m not rebellious. Wait, did Luke just say I’m going to ditch detention with him? ‘What have you done Luke..what are you getting me into?’ I thought to myself as I gathered my things. One I was done, I stood up and asked, “Okay, so are we going to do this or what?” He chuckled, “Definitely,” I answered.
Surprisingly there was no one to catch us sneaking out of detention. It seems as if we were the only ones left. It doesn't matter honestly. I’m just glad we made it out safely. “So, how are you going to ditch if I don't have a car? You told me you'd take care of that, but you never told me how,” I asked becoming suddenly very curious. He continued walking as I followed him. “You’ll see,” Luke answered over his shoulder, not even bothering to look back at me. “Ivory meet Princess,” Luke smiled. I realized his “princess” is a motorcycle.
I gulped and whined, “No way in hell am I going to ride that with you.” “Oh really? I guess I’ll just leave you here all alone and go,” Luke replied. “What? Are you serious? Can’t be just call a taxi or something?” I complained. “Nope. So are you coming or not?” asked Luke. I gulped and shook my head yes. He hopped on to his motorcycle and tapped on the seat. ‘You can do this Ivory. You’re a rebellious badass. You're not afraid.’ I thought in my head as I sat on the seat. “You should probably hold on tight,” Luke said smirking. I snorted, “Haha in your dreams Luke.” Luke jokingly corrected, “No. More like, in your dream.” “Whatever,” I muttered. Luke kicked the motorcycle, and it started to rumble and roar. Trembling with my eyes closed, I instantly held onto Luke, clinging my whole body onto his. Luke chuckled, “I knew you'd come around.” I was about to explain, but he began riding the motorcycle out of the parking lot. ‘What have you gotten yourself into…’ I mumbled to myself.
“Ivory…you can let go of me now,” Luke announced. “Huh? Oh…sorry,” I said realizing we’ve reached our stop. I slowly released him, trying to recollect myself. He got off the seat once I let go of him. “Are you going to stand up?” Luke asked. “Obviously,” I snorted. I stood up quickly trying to act cool, but my legs began to wobble and I lost my balance. “Woah!” I screamed.Luke quickly caught me before I feel to the ground. He cautiously asked, “Are you okay Ivory?” “What? Oh yeah, thanks. Sorry, I feel like jello,” I confessed. I noticed he was still holding on to me. “Um, I’m alright now. Thanks,” I assured while walking walking away from him. “Where are we?” I asked suddenly worried. “You’ll see…” Luke said grinning. ‘Oh my,’ I thought. What have I gotten myself into?
