Luke had been lucky enough to get in the army as quick as he did. He signed papers, contracts for how long he'd stay and things say he wouldn't tell others what he seen when was overseas. In two weeks he'd ship off to boot camp leaving the life he knew behind.
Luke didn't tell anyone he was leaving, on one of the hottest days in poodunk, Luke got the call about leaving for boot camp. In the pit of his stomach he was a nervous wreck, and scared. 20 years old going in the army to serve his great country that he loved very much.
*5 months later*
Luke had gotten out of boot camp and was deployed right away for his sniping skills and stealthy ways of getting out of danger quicker than anyone else in his group. He was on a plane with 200 other army officers and troops who did the best out of everyone else in there class.Right before the plane was taking off he had gotten a call from his parents that Cindy had moved on and got married. It crushed Luke that she just up and moved on with her life and he wondered why she didn't wait for him, knowing how much he loved her.
Not only was he devastated but he also decided that if she moved on so could he and he'd do a lot better than some redneck woman who played with his feelings, time after time she had done that too him.
Luke shoulders sagged and he relaxed a bit as his flight took off. He didn't want to think of anything that had to do with his little country life. Luke closed his eyes for what seemed liked 5 minutes but in reality he slept his whole flight.
"Charlie on your feet! This isn't a time to sleep! Wake up you sleeping beauty"
Luke startled awake and was confused at first and then looked around only to see the officer calling him away. He slowly got out of his seat and followed the officer to where everyone else was standing, he joined them.
"Hut hut!! Listen up everyone you are here because you were the brightest in your class! And that is something we need here in Paris! When I call your names get into a single file line. Understood?!" The crowd spoke as loud as they could with a "YES SIR!"
Once everyone was in there groups the officer spoke for the last time " these 20 people you are with are going to be with you every step of the way, there your bunk mates and teammates, look around people they are going to be the people you depend on the most and them on you" and with that the officer walked away from the groups leaving them to find there own way.
Little did any of them know everything would change for the worst and nothing would be as good as anything after that.
