Unspoken tension

"Bloody hell Shay. All I feel is your elbow in my back." Dean complained while trying to turn his head to look back at his friend. "Sorry mate." Seamus apologized sitting himself upright. He grabbed a pillow and put it on Dean's back. Then he laid back down, now with his elbow in the pillow, and continued reading his book. Despite there being plenty of open seats in the Gryffindor common room they chose to sit together on the floor, surrounded by pillows and blankets. They both agreed to finally start studying, but with these two, who knows what will end up happening.

Harry, Ron, and Hermione walked into the Gryffindor common room that night after being out all day to quite a sight. There lay Dean and Seamus. The books they were SUPPOSED to be reading thrown off to the side. The pillows and blankets all messed up and out of order, and a LOT of food. Dean and Seamus just laid in the middle of it, fast asleep. Dean with his arms at his sides and a pillow under his head. And Seamus using him as his own personal pillow.

"What the- DEAN! SEAMUS!" Hermione yell alone was enough to startle the two boys awake. "I thought you two were finally studying?" She asked them. "Well we were. At first." Dean said tired tiredly rubbing his eyes. "But then Ginny and Luna came in and offered us some cookies Luna had gotten from a Hufflepuff." Seamus continued. "After getting a sugar high from eating like 20 cookies we had a pillow fight then crashed." Dean finished. "Are there any cookies left?" Ron asked them. Seamus pointed to a blanket on the couch. Ron went over and lifted the blanket, revealing the cookies underneath. He quickly grabbed them and started eating. Hermione rolled her eyes at all three of the boys. "You guys are ridiculous." She said then walked off to the girls bedrooms. Harry just laughed and went with Ron up to their bedrooms, trying hard to take a cookie from him on the way up. Seamus yawned as he sat himself upright. He looked out the window and saw the night sky. "We should probably get to sleep." He told Dean. Dean nodded, his eyes still closed, as he stood up.  They picked up the mess they unknowingly made then headed to bed. Seamus seemed to fall asleep the second his head hit the pillow, he didn't even get the covers up. Dean shook his head as he went over to his friends bed and put the covers over him. "You're a piece of work." Dean muttered to his sleeping friend, or should I say, secret crush. Dean blushed at the thought. He walked back over to his bed and laid down. Before he could fall asleep he heard someone whisper his name. He turned his head and saw Ron looked at him.

"What?" He asked him. "When are you going to tell him you like him?" Ron asked him bluntly. Dean's face lit up like a Christmas tree. "W-what!?" He sputtered. Ron turned over on his back, "Oh please. Everyone can see you've got a thing for Seamus." "I do not have a thing for my best friend." Dean argued. "Whatever you say mate. Night." Ron said pulling the covers over his head.

Even though everyone else had now gone to sleep Dean sat awake. He knew that Ron was right but he didn't want to admit it. He DID have s thing for his best friend. A major thing. To be honest there is a tension between the two of them. An unspoken tension. The way one of them would catch the other staring, they would hold hands without even knowing, they've been known to cuddle on some occasions, Dean has called Seamus his 'firecracker' from time to time, Seamus even refused to leave his side when Dean was scared of getting petrified by whatever was attacking muggle-borns. This was before he realized he was half-blood. Even if those aren't enough there's still major tension between them if they look at each other long enough. Dean has no clue if Seamus feels it too but he sure does. Though he can't really describe the feeling. He does know that he has to resist the urge to kiss him every time this happens. Still this was how he felt. He had no clue what Seamus was ever even thinking. He probably never saw him as more then a friend.

But that was not the case. Seamus did think of Dean as more than a friend, possibly more than a best friend. But he would never admit it. He never could admit it. He wasn't allowed to feel those kind of things, he didn't even know if he wanted to. If he did have a crush on his best friend it would not be ok. Because of his mother. She would never allow it to happen. But, what she doesn't know won't hurt her.
