CHAPTER THREE: you saw me five minutes ago.
Marina ran as fast as she could. Five minutes ago, Tony had called her because of an emergency meeting. The brunette skipped the woman with her son while she ran into the Avenger's Tower. "I'm here! I'm sorry I'm late!"
Marina closed the door while she waited for some signal. "We are upstairs, Mar," Tony shouted. The girl ran upstairs but she stopped when she saw all the little details on the walls.
"Happy birthday, Mar!"
All the Avengers looked at Marina, who was smiling as big as ever. She barely remembered that that day was her birthday and she was really surprised. "Oh, thanks. Really, thank you so much."
She had never got any friends or family that cared for her, so she never thought of her birthday as a day to celebrate nor an especial one.
"Thor couldn't come, Mar," Natasha said. "He had a lot of things to do in Asgard."
Steve walked to her and he gave her a little blue box. "But he gave me your present." The brunette opened the box with energy and a big smile appeared in her face when she looked at the necklace that Thor had gifted her.
Clint stood beside her with a shy smile and Marina looked at him, intrigued. "We all have presents for you, Mar." The agent looked at her friend for a few moments before she put the necklace into the box once again with care and worry written all over her face.
The archer knew better than anyone the story of the little girl, so he knew that this was a whole new experience for her.
Marina opened all the gifts that she received and she loved all of them. The brunette thanked multiple times to them, but there was a present that she would qualify it as the best. "Steve! How did you know I wanted a pair of this?"
Steve looked at the brunette while she put on the boxing gloves. "I heard you complain about your old ones and I thought that you may need some new ones."
Marina hugged him and kissed him on the cheek. "You thought well, Steve. Thank you."
"Now that we finished with the presents, we're going to sing the happy birthday so I can eat that delicious cake," Tony clapped and everyone laughed.
When Marina walked near Natasha, she muttered in her ear, "I know you helped him."
The redhead just smiled while the brunette sat in front of the cake. "If you only knew how much I'm helping him," Natasha said to herself. No one heard her because everyone had already begun to clap.
Marina came in her bedroom jumping. She had had a fun time and she didn't get tired of thanking the Avengers for the party. But they did get tired of hearing her.
The brunette jumped on her bed and took the cellphone between her hands when she noticed the little light.
