Life right now was pretty great, except for the fact that I was pretending to be someone I wasn’t 90% of the day but I had got the girl. The one I had liked for what seems like forever, of course she was completely oblivious to the whole thing. For someone so smart she could really be dense at times.

However the relationship was new and there was a huge chance that if I made one slip up we would be back to bickering at each other. I had gone to Sam to give me some advice; maybe the past men in Aura’s life would be able to offer me some wisdom. Although if one did ever hurt her or touch her in a way that she didn’t like then I would be making a detour.

No, Valentin. I chastised myself. Aura doesn’t like men like that; she likes those sappy men you see on Lifetime.

God I was never going to be able to fool anyone with this.

“V!” I heard someone yell as they stomped down the stairs to the gym. To think about matters like this I needed to add in some extra work out while Aura was upstairs doing her hacker thing. I see Terri stomp down the rest of my stairs looking slightly irritated at me and I stopped punching the bag giving him my full attention. “What did you do to John?”

“What?” I asked. Even after living in America for nearly 5 years I still didn’t fully understand Americans themselves.

“John, where is he?” Terri repeated.

“How should I know?” I asked back and resumed punching the bag. I was actually glad that the blonde boy was out of the house and away from Aura, they had too much history together and something about him just put me on edge, and I was the trained assassin here.

“Because he’s not in his room.”

That made me freeze mid punch and my thoughts halt for a moment. Five hours couldn’t have passed so quickly, have they? I looked at my watch and saw that it just edged past 9:30 meaning that cretino wasn’t or at least shouldn’t be up yet. We practically had to drag him out of bed when the sun was at its highest point in the sky.

“Then I guess he went out.” I said about to resume my workout although even I found this completely out of the ordinary.

“V you know Aura will freak out if she finds out John is gone and we have no idea where he is.” Damn Terri, if he wasn’t Aura’s friend, well let’s just say we wouldn’t have another mouth to feed. “And don’t you dare think about killing me, Aura would never forgive you if you did that.”

“Can you read minds or something?” I asked grabbing a towel and wiping off the excess sweat that coated my skin. “Let’s go.”

We were able to get up the stairs and on the second floor without anyone noticing us not that it would matter. This wasn’t some top secret life or death mission. We got to John’s door and I knew that once I opened it John would probably still be in bed and Terri just didn’t see the guy because he went to the bathroom.

I opened the door and found a different sight. Everything was picked up and the floors looked like they were just vacuumed. The bed was made and everything was in its place, there was nothing here, it’s like he didn’t even step foot in this room at all.

“See.” Terri said.

I walked into the room seeing if I could find any clue as to where John might have gone, maybe he went out for a walk or maybe a run, that seemed possible. But after ten minutes of searching I came up with nothing. There were no clothes, no toiletries, no anything. Everything John had was gone but he couldn’t have just left us, could he have?
