"You're sick."
For as long as she could remember, Ember Diem has been told that she's ill. Her body is infected with an unknown virus that could kill her if she doesn't take her medicine regularly. Naturally, Ember obeys under the guidelines of the Owain Corporation, the ones that provide her medicine free of charge, just like the others. They all have lost their parents to the illness and Owain Corporation hopes to free them one day. All they can do is live inside the controlled building, their only outside glimpse of the world is through a television screen. Day after day, they are exposed to the wonderful supers that protect the city, knowing that they'll never be able to witness such things in person.
Without a cure, they are to remain confined.
Eventually, Ember comes to terms that she doesn't want to live her life in such a way and conspires with her best friend, Rami, to stop taking the medicine once and for all and be free.
