a boy's room can tell a lot about them; their interests, families, friends, and their pasts. the topic of hayes' past was something i was unfamiliar with mainly because i hadn't really known him until recently.

he watched me walk around his room, my eyes wandering through the framed photos and the corkboard that held photos that looked to be quite old, judging from the peeling corners. the smiling, bright-blue eyed boy with shaggy brown hair in the old photos  was someone i wouldn't have recognized until hayes came home, and that same expression made its way onto his face.

"what?" hayes saw me chuckling at the photo of him with a tiny pug, his nose pressed against the pugs. i pointed at the picture and grinned. "this one is my favorite."

"its quite a popular one with the ladies i used to get in here."

"oh when, in fourth grade?" i moved closer to hayes who was sat on the edge of his bed.

"you know it." he looked up at me with those eyes, big, blue and sparkling. looking into them always gave me a sense of hope, no matter what was going on. i tried my best not to stare at him.

"do you ever get tired?" he asked. the clock read one fifty in the morning.

i shrugged, taking one step closer to him.

"i wish i would have told you this earlier but... god you're fucking hot." he took a breath and looked at me again. suddenly, he grabbed my hips and pulled me onto the bed. i didn't resist, i knew i wanted this, i wanted him. he ran his hands up and down my sides and kissed me with integrity. he unbuttoned his pants...

my eyes shot open and i forced my body awake as i tried to adjust to unfamiliar surroundings. hayes slept peacefully next to me, his mouth slightly parted, quiet, long breaths escaping from it. his arm was around my stomach and somehow my head ended up on his chest. butterflies filled my stomach as i remembered my dream. other worries soon began to flood my brain; what if his parents saw us?

hayes stirred and opened his eyes slowly, looking down at me. it was too late for me to pretend that i was still asleep and unfortunately i had to just face the fact that he knew i was looking at him while he slept.

"good morning." he said, not seeing surprised or angry that somehow we'd ended up sleeping in the same bed.

"how did...this happen." i motioned at us.

"shay, you conked out after you started laughing over the picture of me and keeda (rest in peace you saint of a dog). i guess i fell asleep too."

i didn't say anything.

"shay...its okay. i liked it."

i wanted to say to him i did too because i truly did, and i loved the feelings he gave me. i just didn't know if i was ready to accept them yet.
